First the vent: My emailed the pastor of the church where we are getting married to make sure he got out baptismal certificates and to make sure we are all set to get married. He got everything and then he dropped the bomb.... My FFIL is an ordained Catholic deacon and he will be doing the marriage vows. The priest told us that we needed a letter from his diocese in MA to say he was in good standing...got that. Well in the email the priest mentions..."I presume that you have gotten the license from the NH secretary of state's office for your father to do the ceremony and marry the two of you." Ummmm....we asked what we needed to do and you just said the letter and now less than 2 months out, you decide to mention this. Arghhh....so I emailed my FMIL and she laughed because the Fall River diocese is in chaos because the offices are moving. She has no clue how to get ahold of anyone for the official proof that he is a deacon....needs to be certified. Time will tell on this one
On to my ? How many of you that are already married on here had the priest actually come to the RD? We are inviting the pastor and the music organist and are wondering if they tend to come since we have a private room with a maximum? I know each is different but I am looking at the average. TIA
