What is the difference?

So I have my dress picked out and am getting ready to order it in the next couple weeks, and found the dress I want on the designer website is also sold as a quinceanera dress.  I looked at both dresses online and the only difference between the bridal & the quinceanera versions (besides a $400 savings) is that quinceara dress doesn't have a train which I didn't want a train on my dress anyway.  I'm a 5 foot even 110 lb woman, so I'm really about the size if not a bit smaller than the average 15 year old who would wear the dress for her quinceanera..... I'm wondering is it feasable to wear the dress in the quinceanera version ?? If you were in my situation and found this as a possible option , would you pursue it if it could save you substantially ??? Just looking for some realistic non biast feedback.  Pic is attached of the quinceanera version - and yes I'll be wearing it in this color.  Thanks ladies!

Re: What is the difference?

  • I LOVE that dress (I saw it in a bridal magazine once and kind of fell in love).  Just wanted to say that- you'll be beautiful.  I think you should definately use the quinceanera version if you don't want a train- just because a dress is labeled for a given occasion doesn't mean it's the only thing you can wear it for- if you like the quinceanera version better, go with it!
  • I agree... can we see a pic of both dresses side by side?

If the quinceanera is more of what you are looking for (without the train), then go for it! Especially since it doesn't have a train and the wedding gown version does, it saves you money not only on buying the dress but potentially from buying the wedding gown version and having to spend money on alterations or having to settle with something you didn't really want in the first place.

  • Is there any difference in quality?

  • I agree with PPs...if you love it and you don't want a train, and it looks exactly the same as the bridal version, then why not?

  • Did you try the dress on? That's always a big key to choosing the dress. never buy a wedding dress online without trying it on..They always look different on than online.

Also, I am short and tiny too. TRUST me, try it on..You might decide it is way too overwhelming on you.. I found that alot when trying on dresses

If you've tried it on and like the style then go for it.  Your wedding dress doesn't have to be a train, and if it's what you want and it's cheaper then that's even better.
  • wow ... thanks for all the positive feedback ladies! Achiduck - as far as quality difference - there is not anything that I'm aware of as its the same designer - one dress has a train and one does not.  Loca - Yes I did try the red dress on - the bridal gown version and fell in love with it and started to cry when I had it on - this is when I knew it was "my dress" as I bought a different dress already and ended up selling it.  Thanks so much calliopia - I can't wait to order it and have it on again! And for cwaggoner ( And the rest of you wonderful ladies ) I have pics of both of them up now for you to see = ) the quinceanera version is posted 1st, the bridal version is posted 2nd. Thanks again for the reassurance girls!

  • I love that dress, and I prefer it without the train. The only thing to check when ordering is if it comes in misses sizes rather than juniors, unless you could fit in either. I wonder if the bust/hips might be different. My guess is its just a marketing thing, and you could find the trainleas dress advertised as bridal elsewhere.
