Ivory Dress, White Shoes--Help!

So, I first tired on my dress in Aug. 2011, and without ever trying it on again I bought it in Oct (they didnt have one in stock or any pictures) I just had the idea in my head of how I felt in the dress. Long story short--I wasn't sure of the color, but assumed my dress was white. I then bought my shoes in diamond white. I just saw my dress, its Ivory...I would really like to avoid buying new shoes--any ideas on how to change the color to ivory? Can I dye them..or does it really matter if my shoes are white?

Thanks so much everyone!!

Re: Ivory Dress, White Shoes--Help!

  • I've seen somewhere there are over 200 shades of white. You could have them dyed very lightly (I would research how to do it and try it myself) to make sure they won't clash.

You mentioned they were diamond white, it will look very bright against ivory or candlelight...anything other than diamondwhite just because diamond white is, well, so bright white.

If you can take them back, I would try that first. You can always do a funky color too, so if it comes to you dying them you don't have to do Ivory. You can do blue (for something blue) or go with one of your wedding colors. I think colorful shoes are fun. Personally I'm wearing purple ;)

    Hope that helps some :)
  • The chances of anyone even seeing your shoes aren't very high, but if you're like me, it would drive me nuts so I would either see if you can return them, die them a different color or do what I'm doing and embellish them with lace and pearls in ivory.  I love the look of some of the flats on Etsy, but I have very narrow heels and most shoes don't fit me and the last thing I wanted was a blister on my wedding day so I'm getting Bloch ballet shoes and adding my own lace and pearls in ivory.

<div>What a lovely idea!  I'm wearing actual ballet shoes too (Capezio- Juliette) and hadn't even thought of embellishing them.</div>
