Where did everyone get their dresses?
I'm starting to look into making appointments and was wondering what your recommendations would be based on your personal experiences. What places had a good selection, good prices, and good service? (I did see the post below about Marry & Tux but was looking for other ideas too). TIA!
Re: Bridal Salons
A lot of other ladies on here recommend Modern Bride in Bedford and Madeline's Daughter in Portsmouth.
Good Luck!
I got my dress at Madeline's Daughter and had the best experience. I ended up buying the first dress I tried on (I did try on about 20 dresses, but it always came back to the first one).
At this point i've already had my first fitting and still am very happy with the service. The other great thing is that they store your dress there throughout the whole fitting process and can pick it up whenever the week before your wedding!
These are the places that I went to while hunting for the perfect dress:
Marry & Tux. I didn't find anything I liked there, but the people were very nice.
David's Bridal. Don't even step foot in there. The people that work there are so RUDE!!!!
Madeline's Daughter. Tried on a lot of dresses but didn't find anything there.
Modern Bride. The first dress I tried on was the one! And, the people aren't very pushy, which is nice.
Crisitna's was great as well! My consultant was very knowledgeable and offered great advice. The shop has just moved across the street to a beautiful new space and has a whole floor devoted to bridal gowns. This is where I ended up buying my dress and will be going back in a couple of weeks for BM dress shopping. Can't wait!
My experience at Bella Sera was okay overall and they have some beautiful dresses especially if you are looking for something 2k and under. The shop is modern and cute too but I wasn't as impressed as I was with the other 2 shops. I went to Bella Sera on a week day and had a 12:00 p.m. appointment. I specifically went during the week to avoid crowds and feeling overwhelmed. I arrived 10 minutes early and ended up waiting nearly an hour for my appointment to begin. Then when I tried the dresses on I had to get in and out of them myself without any help from the consultant (one of the owners I think). At Cristina's & Madeleine's the consultant helps you in and out of the dresses and I found this to be very helpful since some dresses can be heavy and it can be difficult to get them zipped. Overall I just didn't feel as at ease as I had at the other two shops.

I would NOT recommend 125 Bridal in Plaistow or David's Bridal.
Madeline's Daughter is good for some, but wasn't good for us. They're also a bit pricey.
In the end, purchased the dress at Modern Bridal and am very happy with all of their service!
