Bridal Salons

Where did everyone get their dresses?

I'm starting to look into making appointments and was wondering what your recommendations would be based on your personal experiences. What places had a good selection, good prices, and good service? (I did see the post below about Marry & Tux but was looking for other ideas too). TIA!

I can't say enough about Marry and Tux! They were great!

A lot of other ladies on here recommend Modern Bride in Bedford and Madeline's Daughter in Portsmouth.

    Good Luck!

I'm getting mine at Bella Bridal Shoppe in Amesbury MA. GREAT service. They get paid by the hour not on commission so they're not pushy to make the sale. Ramona was the name of the girl that helped me. She made me feel very comfortable and was so helpful. She really listened to what I wanted and helped me to find the perfect dress. The only reason I didn't buy it right then and there was because I wanted my mom to be there with me so I'm going back in a few weeks to make the actual purchase.

I got my dress at Madeline's Daughter and had the best experience. I ended up buying the first dress I tried on (I did try on about 20 dresses, but it always came back to the first one).

At this point i've already had my first fitting and still am very happy with the service. The other great thing is that they store your dress there throughout the whole fitting process and can pick it up whenever the week before your wedding!

These are the places that I went to while hunting for the perfect dress:

Marry & Tux.  I didn't find anything I liked there, but the people were very nice.
David's Bridal.  Don't even step foot in there.  The people that work there are so RUDE!!!!
Madeline's Daughter.  Tried on a lot of dresses but didn't find anything there.
Modern Bride.  The first dress I tried on was the one!  And, the people aren't very pushy, which is nice.

I looked for my dress at three different shops: Bella Sera (Danvers), Cristina's (Andover) & Madeleine's Daughter.  I had the best experiences at Madeleine's & Cristina's.  Madeleine's was an overall great experience.  My consultant was awesome!  She chose amazing dresses and spent nearly 2 hours with me.  The shop is beautiful and I love that you get your own room and very personal attention.

Crisitna's was great as well!   My consultant was very knowledgeable and offered great advice.  The shop has just moved across the street to a beautiful new space and has a whole floor devoted to bridal gowns.  This is where I ended up buying my dress and will be going back in a couple of weeks for BM dress shopping.  Can't wait!

My experience at Bella Sera was okay overall and they have some beautiful dresses especially if you are looking for something 2k and under.  The shop is modern and cute too but I wasn't as impressed as I was with the other 2 shops.  I went to Bella Sera on a week day and had a 12:00 p.m. appointment.  I specifically went during the week to avoid crowds and feeling overwhelmed.  I arrived 10 minutes early and ended up waiting nearly an hour for my appointment to begin.  Then when I tried the dresses on I had to get in and out of them myself without any help from the consultant (one of the owners I think). At Cristina's & Madeleine's the consultant helps you in and out of the dresses and I found this to be very helpful since some dresses can be heavy and it can be difficult to get them zipped.  Overall I just didn't feel as at ease as I had at the other two shops.

I bought my dress with 11 months to go... They told me 6 months before it would be I'm :( I got it at 125 Bridal in Plaistow, NH. My experience was great, I bought the first dress I tried on there. My consultant was Briana, she was really sweet and clearly listened to what I wanted seeing the first one she pulled was the one! I also tried on dresses at Davids Bridal and it was just okay, nothing special, nothing bad!

I also highly recommend Marry & Tux!  I got my dress there last month.  Lindsay was my consultant, and she was awesome!  Really enthusiastic, super sweet, and not even remotely pushy.  Overall we had a great experience; we even went WAY over our appointment time, haha.  She let me take all the time I needed, and honestly the biggest timesuck in my appointment was deciding what color I wanted to order.  She even let me take two dresses in the colors I was choosing between to look at them in natural light, so I'd know for sure I was making the right choice.  She also did an amazing job keeping the appointment about ME, which is crucial because my mother has a tendancy to get upset and overbearing when she's not in the spotlight.  She managed to appease my mom without making it about her :)

I would recommend Modern Bride, Bedford or Marry & Tux, Nashua.

I would NOT recommend 125 Bridal in Plaistow or David's Bridal.

Madeline's Daughter is good for some, but wasn't good for us.  They're also a bit pricey.

In the end, purchased the dress at Modern Bridal and am very happy with all of their service!

I ended up buying my dress at Country Bridal.  It is pretty far away, over in Jaffery.  I went there because they were having a Maggie Sottero trunk show, and i had already fallen in love with the Maggie dresses.  If you have a designer you really like in particular, you may want to check their website if they have any upcoming trunk shows in the area.  You usually get a discount (in my case 10% off) and they send additional dresses to the store, which wouldn't normally be there.  I had an ok experience there.  They let me just freely roam and pick anything i wanted to try on.  With a big group of me and 5 people, it made it a little hectic.  In the end, I found the dress!
