Alfred Angelo review/rant

My grade for Alfred Angelo for bridesmaid dresses is: D+
I looked all around for the perfect bridesmaid dresses, and finally found them at Alfred Angelo. I told the lady who worked there that my bridesmaids were spread across the country, and she said that would be fine. She said they could go to their local Alfred Angelo store, or even call in their order over the phone as long as they take their own measurements. Perfect, right? Wrong.
A lot of the stores listed on the Alfred Angelo website are just stores that sell some Alfred Angelo products, but not actually Alfred Angelo stores. My BMs tried to go to these stores, but they couldn't take the orders. A lot of my BMs live an hour or more from the nearest 'real' Alfred Angelo store, so they decided to just call in their orders... well it turns out, you can't just call in your order... you need to get a fax and fax it back to them. Well, most of my BMs don't have fax machines readily available, so that wasn't an option, so finally after talking to multiple representatives, they said that e-mail could work. So they e-mailed a PDF (for one of my BMs they sent a completely unreadable PDF and said they could talk her through it... she finally got a readable copy from one of the other BMs instead) Then, when my BMs gave measurements, the people at Alfred Angelo gave very little help for choosing a size (your bust is a size 2, your waist a 4 and your hips a 6... what size do you want?).
All in all, it was a terrible experience for most of my bridesmaids, and unless you and all of your BMs live near a 'real' Alfred Angelo store, I would not recommend using them for BM dresses... I feel so bad for making my BMs jump through so many hoops to get their dresses.

We ordered AA dresses through Pearl's Place and it was really easy.  They just got their measurements, we chose their dress size from the sizing chart Pearl's Place e-mailed me based on the largest measurement (except one where the dress cut was really loose at the point of the largest measurement), called Pearl's Place and told them the style number, color and size.

My girls all got Alfred Angelo gowns. The one BM that couldn't get to the shop just had me hand in her measurements to the shop and they picked a size that fit perfectly. Sorry you had a bad experience! It doesn't necessarily look like AA is at fault here- it appears to be the service at the shops.

I agree with PP, my Alfred Angelo wedding dress & bridesmaids dresses have been great so far. All but one dress is here and the bridal shop is reordering it at their cost, since the owner measured my 13yr FSIL and didn't take into consideration she would grow & mature over a few months. :)  I will say 1 bridal shop I visited only carried the BM dresses not wedding dresses, not sure why.  I would always advise calling ahead. Also the AA website will tell you which stores carry which dress type if you search for your local stores.
Do you use an AA store of a bridal shop that carries AA?  Because your bridal shop or for that matter your AA store could have ordered the BM dresses over the phone for them.

Then, when my BMs gave measurements, the people at Alfred Angelo gave very little help for choosing a size (your bust is a size 2, your waist a 4 and your hips a 6... what size do you want?).

All of the size charts state to order based on your largest measurement and alter down what is too big.

Yeah this one should have been obviously. You certainly wouldn't want the size two that your waist and hips wouldn't fit in.
