Advice needed on jewelry: how will sparkly photograph?

Is sparkly jewelry a bad thing? I found a necklace I loved at an antique store, so I don't know what metal/stone (assume it's all fake). It would make the perfect embelishment to my otherwise plain dress. I'm worried about how it will photograph though. So far, the photos I've taken of it with flash are less than desirable. However, in person or without flash look fabulous. Should I forgo it? Anyone had this issue -- whether success or regret story? Any things I should be keeping in mind?

Those photos don't look bad to me, and besides, your photographer will be better trained and have a better camera and lenses.

I wore both real and costume jewelry, and it all looked great on camera, even though my photographer wasn't all that awesome.

I'm wearing sparkly earrings and a bracelet....I agree with opal that your photog should be able to capture it as beautifully as it is in person!
