Bridesmaid Dress Help!

Our wedding colors are black pink and silver. So I decided to go with black bridesmaids dresses with a pink ribbon around the bust. My wedding is in August and a couple of my bridesmaids do not agree with the color choice because its a summer wedding. I know it is ultimately my choice of what color I go with but is black a bad color to go with for a summer wedding, I do have another dress choice in pink I am considering as well. Is black a bad choice for a summer wedding or does the color of the bridesmaids dresses have to with the "season"?

  • Why not try a pink dress with black ribbon here. I think the dress can satisfy you and your bridesmaid and also go with your black and pink color wedding.

  • I'm not a huge fan of how pink dresses look on me in particular. You definitely have to have the right skin tone.. and I do not.. at all. I would LOVE a black bridesmaid dress!!!

I think really girly pink flowers, the shoes, and the sash would make it summery. Maybe peonies?
  • Black is classic, I think it goes in any season!  If those are the colors you want go for it and your bridesmaids will have to deal.  I have worn yellow, Barbie pink and royal blue (none of which would have been my pick), and never gave the bride a hard time!

  • Any color will work for any season.

I did black BM dresses in April, and MH was in a July wedding with the girls in long black gowns.

  • I agree that black would go well for any season, as well as looking sophisticated and polished.  A black dress could even be a more likely re-wear for the bridesmaids.  The only concern that I would see is if it's an outdoor wedding if the black would get toasty.
  • I am doing a black, red, and white wedding at the end of July! My bridesmaids are wearing short knee-length black dresses with a white sash below the bust. I personally do not think your wedding colors/bridesmaid dresses have to go with the season. Make the colors what you want them to be, and forget about the time of the year! Your bridesmaids should be supportive of your vision for the wedding, and be happy that they will have a dress in a verstile color so they can maybe get some use out of it in the future!

  • Black is classic-it can be worn anytime.  And by adding the sash in pink, and I am assuming they will have some sort of colorful bouquet, you will have plenty of seasonal color!

I don't understand why your maids are complaining.  Most people would love to have a black dress because they could probably wear it again after the wedding!

  • I think black is fine all year round and very in right now.  You should go with whatever color is going to make you happy.
  • If the ceremony or entire wedding will be outdoors, you may want to reconsider just because they will end up being very hot.  But if they won't be outdoors or only will be outdoors for a short period of time like for pictures, go for the black.  The pink brings in more summery colors.
  • I have been thinking about black too, with aqua as an accent color.  My wedding is next July and I had the same worries that black is "out of season".  Happy to hear all the positive comments!! If you love the colors, go with it!  Good Luck!
  • We have almost the same color scheme!!! My colors are Hot pink, white, black and silver! So for my bridal party I'm having the bridesmaids wear watermelon colored dresses from davids's bridal and the maid of honor has a different style of dress but same color and we're adding a white bridal sash to hers with a rhinestone broch in the front! For the groomsmen I'm having them all wear matching black suits with watermelon vest and pink roses. Groom will be wearing the white with pink vest  maybe(haven't deciede if we want him to have color or not) black and silver are more of my reception decoration colors! So that's how I'm using all my colors hope some of this helped!!!

  • My bridesmaids are wearing short black dresses for my July wedding.  Instead of a hot pink sash, they're wearing hot pink shoes and carrying bright pink flowers.  Black works anytime, anywhere IMO.
