I am looking for a non-strapless wedding dress. It seems to be the most popular style these days and I want to be more unique. Plus, stapless just doesn't suit my body type well. I'm looking for some inspiration. Did any of you ladies have a non-strapless dress? I'd love to see pictures!
Re: Non-Strapless Dress
Miss Mrs.
Just Jen: Love the classic look!
Thanks ladies
So, first I was looking at halter. People with nice shoulders look good in halter. Then I saw the ruffle high-necks with A-line and had my heart SET on trying every one on - but there are not many (1 by galena, 5 by demetrios, and 1 by Maggie Sottero) but today I just about had a meltdown in a salon because they did not have them and they told us on the phone that they did! (Beware of bait and switch!) If you like ruffle neck - most places can add it but it wont be built in.
Apparently tall women like me look good in these built-in ruffle necks - so nobody carries them and I drove around Maryland and Virgina! So if you are tall, they exist - you just have to call weeks ahead and be specific about them. Also - david's bridal has one - soon to be discontinued (low price!). And then when I tried them, they looked great and sweet, but then . . . .
Today I bought a one strap dress. I am totally in love with it. It wasn't what I thought I wanted, but it worked great. And that is the saga of my search for a different non-strapless dress! This is my dress:

From what I can tell, your alternate choices are:
v neck
halter
halter-ruffle high neck (rare)
One shouldter (the new it thing)
Boat neck (rare)
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.
Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
I went with a one-shoulder gown as well, Maggie Sottero Desirae, pics in bio.
This is the one that I went with. It is a Morilee dress.
Hope the search goes well. You can find waht you want it just may take a while. I cannot say how many dresses we looked through to find this one (actually only 2 stores). I wanted non strapless, no beading, embrodiery, sequenes, no lace...

be sure to look at teh rear view, and then scroll down to check out some reviews. gorgeous dress.
I'm with you on not wanting strapless. This is mine (model wearing it, not me):

It's from David's Bridal, I love it. I feel much more confident in it than any of the strapless ones I tried on. If you find that you love a dress that happens to be strapless, you might be able to add cap sleeves or wear a bolero with it, too. Good luck!
"No Strapless" was my biggest criteria for a dress and it was HARD to find something! One bridal salon salesperson even said "that is all we have, you just need to go with what is in style." Ugh.

Eventually I found this dress and loved it:

The style is Vera Wang 1G137; It was from a few seasons ago and might be discontinued now, but I've seen it on sites like OnceWed and PreOwnedWeddingDresses. I have more PIP.
