Paper Lanterns

is anyone using/has anyone used paper lanterns? if so what is your technique in placing them around the venue...  it obviously depends on the size of your venue, but are you doing a lot or just a little? only certain colors? My colors are orange and brown, but there is already a lot of brown at my venue with all of the exposed wood beams, wood floors, wood chairs... so I was thinking of getting both orange green and white lanterns? should i get different size lanterns...? has anyone seen anything cool using these? Let me now your thoughts?! sorry so long!
TIA!

Hi Melissa.  My daughter Julie and I, (and two of her bridesmaids), went to the Bridal Show at Zorvino Vineyards this past week.  Boston Uplights had decorated, and in addition to their uplights, they had placed several large and medium-sized paper lanterns across the dance floor area.  It looked like they had tied something that looked like "fishing twine" that was rather transparent from the next floor up.  I had taken pictures, but unfortunately, I accidentally deleted them when I tried to upload them from my camera, so I can't get a photo for you.  If my daughter has one from her camera, I'll try to get it and post it for you later.  They used orange, white, and I think green lanterns in different sizes.  Hope this helps.

I'm doing paper lanterns as well. We're tying them all on one line, but dropping them different lengths from the line so they're uneven. They're also all different sizes. Then we're just stringing them across row by row. I think we have about 40. Should only take about an hour, as opposed to 12 hours trying to do them individually. My aunt actually figured it out from some movie she saw (wish I knew which one!).

Our venue is actually an oooooooold train station. The inside is all post and beam, so we're using the lanterns inside the entire space. I've seen them just over the dance floor. Both ways look gorgeous. I guess it depends on what your venue looks like. I'll see if I can find out what movie it was!
