Un-structured wedding dress will will wearing a corset+making dress smaller help?

My question is pretty much what is stated above. My dress is beautiful with all its detail and applicays. The only thing I dont like and hvae never liked is the fit of my dress. Its a trumpet dress with a halter neckline. We cut the inside of the dress lining because it was super thick and restricting. After that the dress got slighty more mermaidy? But I feel that that looks funny because the dress is not formfitting or tight anywhere on my body!!! I actually wanted an aline gown but this gown was way to beautiful and affordable to pass up. I really do love it but I was wondering if anyone has bought a real corset as in a tight, shaping corset and just made their dress smaller? Thank you!

  • if you get a form fitting corset, your seamstress should be able to make your dress so it will be tight against the corset and give it some structure.

your dress would have to be thin for that to work though.

I'm a little confused as to why you would buy a dress that you don't like the fit of.  Fit/shape was most important to me, and then I looked for ones I liked within that style.

I would take your dress to a seamstress and tell them what you want and see what they can do.  I can't imagine a real, old fashioned corset being very comfortable to wear all day.
