Should I pick my bridesmaid's shoes?

I have a question for you ladies (& maybe a gent or two).  

I am having my bridesmaid's all wear solid black shoes.  Normally, I would let them all just pick their own but my maid of honor has INSANE fashion sense lol and I'm afraid she might show up with black feather shoes laced up to her thigh or something!  But, at the same time, I've had to wear torture shoes that were picked for me in other weddings and I don't want to do that to them.  Should I let them pick and just go with my maid of honor to maybe monitor her pick or just select them all and have them be uniform?

Suggestions?

If you pick, remember that YOU pay for them. So if money is an issue don't do it. I asked my girls for black satin pumps and nothing plasticy shiney but other than that, I was good. I'd give them guidelines and ask them to stay in those. I know one of my girls hates heels, and some can rock sky high ones, I wouldn't want to pick for them. This way they look similar but they can pick their own.

You know, I hadn't thought that far ahead!  We're already paying for the girl's dresses so I think I may indeed let them pick their own shoes just to avoid having to buy them all lol

Give your BM a color and let them choose their own styles.  No one will notice their shoes especially if they're in long dresses.  My BM had knee length dresses and I just asked them to get nude, champagne, or gold shoes.  I didn't specify a style because some of them are more comfortable in flats while others are more comfortable in higher heels.

I'm doing short bridesmaid dresses for my girls.  And I have the same thing going on.  I have 3 bridesmaids.  2 can't walk in heals to save their lives and the other lives in them

I'd let them pick with your approval, solves both problems.  Maybe show them some examples of what your thinking of.  I wouldn't be to pushy about it otherwise someone's going to ask you to pay, as they should if your supper picky about it.

let them pick. some may want heels, some may want flats.
