Gown Guardian?

Has anyone used/seen these? I'm really debating getting one, since I have to travel between venues and will be outside some as well. Just hoping to find someone who used one to see their thoughts...
OR... if you haven't heard of these things, what do you think? I thought they were a super clever (yet expensive) idea!

Re: Gown Guardian?

  • I've never heard of them, I just held my dress up off the ground with my MOH's help. And I was outside as well as in the rain.

In my opinion it's not worth the money.

  • With that much fabric and elastic around the feet, I know I'd trip over it.

  • I have never heard of it, but think you can pick up the dress or ask for some assistance and save $200
  • It looks kind of silly. I agree with the girls and say just to lift your dress. This is sort of one of those things you're supposed to lean on your bridesmaids for... I'm sure they will gladly assit you in getting into your venue without dirtying your dress and it makes for a very sweet photo opp :)
  • This looks like something that would be a fail on shark tank.   Just hold the dress with your hands and save yourself $200!
  • Just lift your dress up with your hands (and maybe some help from a BM or two) when moving around outside.  I reached under the front of my dress for the lining closest to my legs and my MOH picked up my train when we went out to take pictures on the football field and I really only did it because it made walking around faster and easier.

The bottom of your dress will get dirty no matter what you try to do.  I doubt you will be holding up the dress for the entire evening.  As long as you are careful about it before the ceremony then you should be fine.  After the ceremony, don't worry about it, because like I said, your dress will get dirty on the bottom, there really is no preventing that.

  • Waste of money if you ask me. It's just another thing they are trying to make brides spend money on.

The underside of your gown is going to get dirty - please understand that now.  There's not a lot you can do about it because, well, the dress is WHITE and the ground/floor is dirty.

Pre-ceremony: just ask someone to help carry it if you have to walk outside or in an especially dirty area.  Post-ceremony: you're going to need to let it go.  A good dry cleaner can get marks out and they won't show in pictures.

    Relax!  :-)
  • That looks like a fitted sheet with holes in the middle!

Even if you bought this, you would still have to hold your dress up, so why not just hold your dress up?!

Exactly!! Waste of money. I would have rather had $200 extra in my dress budget.
  • such a huge waste of 200 dollars.  I should start making them and charge 190. I figure for the price of a twin bedsheet and some elastic you would be able to make one in 20 minutes.  hummm maybe I will go into business doing that.  Clearing 175 dollars for 20 min work would be great.
  • I burst out laughing when I saw the picture on the website. I think holding it will be fine. As many PP have said it's going to get dirty at the bottom. For all the pictures of brides I've seen I've never seen one where the bottom looked dirty in the pictures. Def feel like this would annoy the hell out of me if I had one :)

  • Kinda looks like an overfull diaper.

FWIW, my wedding gown ended up getting completely filthy on the bottom, but I didn't even notice until the next day.

If your gown is of heirloom quality, maybe just MAYBE it would be an option to consider this.
  • I wouldn't do it. If you really want, just use a fitted bed sheet, it should have the same effect.

Also, if you are preserving your gown, then it just seems kind of pointless since they'll clean it and fix it up later for you.

For the record, I couldn't justify buying one, but it seemed clever... however, PPs are dead on that it could be easily made for WAY less money!
    Thanks for all the responses!
