Help with alterations

I went out of state to try on a dress I love. About 4 hours away. It's a 2013 collection so many places don't have them yet. I want to buy it but I'm not sure where can I can get the alterations done. I live in Central Jersey. If anyone has any recommendations I appreciate it. Thank you!!!

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • You can get alterations done anywhere. In fact, I tend to think that boutique seamstresses jack up their prices. I bought my dress in PA (about 2 hours from me) and will be getting my alterations at a seamstress located in my city. I looked around on Wedding Wire to find her, then googled her from there and loved her work.

  • As far as I know, it is very expensive to alter the dress in a local tailor shop. If it needs much alteration, it would cost you a lot. Is there any chance that you have the dress custom-made according to your own measurements?
