Lacy dress - would a belt/sash be too much?

I just got my dress (Allure 8800) a while ago, it looks like this:

The lace is intricate and sparkly - would a sash/belt be too much? I like the idea of detail at the waist but don't want to overdo it.

Thanks!! :)

UPDATE/EDIT:
I photoshopped how various colored ribbons would look with it, for curiosity's sake.  Click here: http://imgur.com/a/b39D1

  • I think a ribbon sash would look great with your dress. It's beautiful by the way. I have a lace dress also, it isn't as detailed as yours, but I have a ribbon sash with a flower around my waist.  Our dresses are pretty different, but if you look in my bio you can at least get an idea of a sash around a lace detailed dress. :)
  • I have the Watters Harmony dress (pic in bio), and it's lace with a wide satin sash.

I think your dress looks AMAZING on you, without a sash. I guess you could add one if you want, but your dress looks fantastic without it.

  • I think a ribbon sash would look good. A beaded belt would be too much (in my opinion).

  • I tried on a similar dress that had a detachable belt w/ a flower.  The belt was made out of organza or tulle (some sort of shear fabric) that kind of bunched around instead of laying flat, and clasped with the flower.  It didnt try to compete with the lace and beading, and was just subtle enough that it wasnt gaudy with everything else going on with the dress.
  • I'd go with nothing at all, or just a ribbon sash.

  • I  have an all lace dress and I think I'm going with an organza sash like this photo.
  • Since the back is so low, I'd skip a sash.

  • I think a ribbon or sash (thicker) would be a great. I think a jeweled belt would be too much.

  • Yeah if you do add a sash keep it simple ribbon or organza like pp's suggested.  You can try it both ways with some of your other accessories before you decide.

Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I love the dress with a ribbon sash.  I personally like the pink or the champaign.  It gives it a little pop of color without standing out too much.

Very beautiful!  Congrats on finding the dress.
  • I think you should go without the sash, but I am on the organza bandwagon if you are going to use one.
