I'm currently shopping for my engagement ring. I tried on this ring yesterday and loved the design:
http://www.jared.com/product1%7C10451%7C10001%7C-1%7C531547002%7C19061%7CHowever, I really wish the diamonds were a little more sparkly. I know nothing about jewelry, but wondered if it's possible to either buy the ring and have the stones replaced, or have a jeweler recreate the design and use better stones (for some price that isn't exorbitant). If neither of those are practical, has anybody seen something similar with better-quality diamonds?
Thanks!
Re: E-Ring Help?
I didn't really speak with the consultant because I was just trying to get ideas, but looking at the website - it lists a quality of I2-I3 for the stones, color HIJ. I get what you're saying about the setting, but I can't help but think some sparkle would be added if the diamonds, even though small and fairly enclosed, were SI1 or something. Then again, maybe not. I'm clueless on this stuff
[QUOTE]The clarity isn't the most important factor in sparkle. Make sure its an excellent cut because this will give you most shine. Florescence (sp..) makes a difference too

<div>This makes a HUGe difference. YOu know when you say "what cut is this" and they respond, "That's called the ... Oval.. Princess, Round... etc". Nope. Wrong. When you are considering the "C"s of diamonds the "cut" is completely different. Only Costco and Tiffany &Co have ONLY Excellent cuts (the highest quality). Any other place, you need to ask (and make sure they don't B.S. you.. I went to Jared and Kay and both were giving me a load of crap regarding this topic)</div><div>The quality of the diamond will make a huge difference in sparkle, but accept that that also will be clear via price. </div>
Alternatively, the diamonds look like they're set low into the band and that may be what's keeping them from shining as much.
The entire ring is only 1/2 carat total, so obviously none of the diamonds are huge. I didn't think to ask about cut, though. Maybe for smaller diamonds, that would matter more than the clarity? That's what I'm understanding from the previous posts.
Recently when we were shopping for wedding bands our jeweler told us the rings in the case had fake stones in it, so that may make a difference. Also we had the jeweler steam clean the one i was trying on and my ring to give me a better idea of sparkle when they hadn't been tried on by a ton of people.
