E-Ring Help?

I'm currently shopping for my engagement ring. I tried on this ring yesterday and loved the design:

However, I really wish the diamonds were a little more sparkly. I know nothing about jewelry, but wondered if it's possible to either buy the ring and have the stones replaced, or have a jeweler recreate the design and use better stones (for some price that isn't exorbitant). If neither of those are practical, has anybody seen something similar with better-quality diamonds?

Thanks!

It might be the setting of the ring that is making it not as sparkly and not the quality of the diamond. If the ring does not allow for any light to enter into the diamond and then bounce off it won't show a lot of sparkle. If that makes sense! I could be way off that that's my opinion.

Gorgeous ring though. Did you ask them about the quality/color of the diamonds to check it out and see if they are good?

I didn't really speak with the consultant because I was just trying to get ideas, but looking at the website - it lists a quality of I2-I3 for the stones, color HIJ. I get what you're saying about the setting, but I can't help but think some sparkle would be added if the diamonds, even though small and fairly enclosed, were SI1 or something. Then again, maybe not. I'm clueless on this stuff :)

Have you seen the ring in person, or just on the internet?  Sometimes they edit the picture of the ring to reduce the sparkle for photos so you can see the detail of the ring a little bit better.

The contsruction of the ring does affect how much light hits the diamonds and how much they shine though.  Higher quality (cut, color, and clarity) of diamonds will also affect how much diamonds sparkle.    Usually you can have bigger stones re-set with a higher quality stone, but smaller ones might be harder to do...you'd have to talk to a jeweler about that.    If you order online they will usually just give you a range of diamond quality that the diamonds will be.

If you go online you can find a lot of good information on how diamonds are graded for cut, color, and clarity.

I inquired with Jared to have a custom ring made for me because nothing was really working with my engagement ring. It was triple the cost of the ring I was looking at soooo we probably won't be going that route. Like PP said, editing the pictures is a big thing, I would look at it in the store. Also I think it will sparkle more next to your engagement ring.

The clarity isn't the most important factor in sparkle. Make sure its an excellent cut because this will give you most shine. Florescence (sp..) makes a difference too

<div>This makes a HUGe difference. YOu know when you say "what cut is this" and they respond, "That's called the ... Oval.. Princess, Round... etc". Nope. Wrong. When you are considering the "C"s of diamonds the "cut" is completely different. Only Costco and Tiffany &Co  have ONLY Excellent cuts (the highest quality). Any other place, you need to ask (and make sure they don't B.S. you.. I went to Jared and Kay and both were giving me a load of crap regarding this topic)</div><div>The quality of the diamond will make a huge difference in sparkle, but accept that that also will be clear via price.  </div>

If I read your post correctly, you tried this on in the store.  I'm not sure about this ring in particular, but most jewelry stores put CZs into the display settings in the stores and then place the diamonds in according to what you order.  Did you ask if those were actually diamonds?

Alternatively, the diamonds look like they're set low into the band and that may be what's keeping them from shining as much.

Sorry I ran away earlier, work called! Yes, I actually tried on the ring yesterday in the store - not judging based upon the internet pictures alone. It is set with diamonds, as it's actually not an engagement/wedding band (according to Jared) where the customer would choose diamonds to be inserted. What I saw was what I would get.

The entire ring is only 1/2 carat total, so obviously none of the diamonds are huge. I didn't think to ask about cut, though. Maybe for smaller diamonds, that would matter more than the clarity? That's what I'm understanding from the previous posts.

I definitely agree with the PP about the cut being the most important. Most jewelers will give you a demonstration to show how big a difference this makes.

Recently when we were shopping for wedding bands our jeweler told us the rings in the case had fake stones in it, so that may make a difference. Also we had the jeweler steam clean the one i was trying on and my ring to give me a better idea of sparkle when they hadn't been tried on by a ton of people.

    Good Luck!

Cut is always biggest factor no matter the size of the diamond. In fact, my main stone looks soon much bigger due to a flawless cut... Always get compliments on the sparkle too.. Hope this helps!
