Titanium wedding bands for men????

Does anyone have any experience with titanium for men's wedding rings. I really think this would be a good idea for my husband to be, he works with his hands (so it won't bend or warp) and never wears jewelry (it's extremely light-weight). I've heard that they can't be resized though, is this something we should really be concerned about?
Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Titanium wedding bands for men????

  • Hi,  I bought my FI a titanium ring two years ago and he loves it.  He works in irrigation and works with his hands all day long... oh, I meant to say he ABUSES his hands all day long.  His ring has withstood all that abuse and is in great condition.  Titanium cannot be resized, but it has not been an issue for him.  He loved his ring so much that we went with titanium wedding bands.  Good luck!
  • We got my FI a tungsten ring which is simliar to Titanium except that titanium is lighter. They are nice rings though.. you can't get them resized so as long as you make sure the size you order fits with a little room for growth you should be fine.

Some retailers will give you a discount if you need to "resize" a tungsten or titanium ring or if it has to be cut off for medical reasons.

The ebay seller we bought our wedding bands from offers half price and they're reasonable to start with.

  • My FI bought a titanium ring.  He tried on gold and tugston but liked the feeling that the titanium had  He does not wear jewelry so he wanted something that wouldn't irritate him.  He loves it.

My fiance has a titanium band I got him when we first started dating and you are absolutely right they cannot be resized and he can't wear his anymore; the only finger it fits now is his wedding ring finger and neither of us wants him wearing it on that finger as we aren't married yet (he only has one hand so he can't just wear it on the other hand).  They also are hearder to get dings and scratchs out of (although harder to scratch in the first place).  For these reasons as much as he loved the titanium when we picked out wedding rings he went with gold.  He did absolutely love the titanium though!  Hope that helps.

However, some retailers will cover that in their protection plans - the ring we did get him has a design so the size can only be changed by I think a half size; however with the protection plan they offer it also incldues replacing the ring if it needs to be resized beyond that.  We got ours at Zales - you could ask about that.  I agree with the other poster about it being difficult to get off if he is hurt or something at work though.
  • When buying titanium or tungsten it is smart to get a full warranty since they cant be resized.  You never know if you will gain/lose weight over time so your ring size may very well fluctuate.   A warranty is the only way to prevent having to pay for new rings down the road.  We shopped on www.tungstenworld.com they got warranties w all their rings so if we decide to have a buffet marathon on our honeymoon they got our back!  Hehe  ;)  Any quality titanium retailer should do the same for you.  Good luck!
  • I would be cautious with a titanium ring. It is hard and durable, which is nice, but if he does heavy work, it could also be a hazard, like sombody else mentioned. Because it is such hard material it would be hard to cut off. I also know a guy who lost his finger because of his ring.

I also didn't really like the look of the titanium. I thought they looked cool in the store, but once my FI tried it on, we both thought it didn't really look like a wedding band. But thats just us. =) And my FI is so sweet! He doesn't wear jewlery, so when the lady suggested the light material he said, "well, I want to feel the ring, it will be a reminder that i'm married." =)
  • I got my fiance a titanium engagement ring (he wanted one, which I think it so cute!). After wearing it for 3 weeks he loves the light feel of it, but it is already pretty scratched up. The scratches cannot be buffed out. I liked the brushed metal look of the ring, which is why we chose titanium for this band, but for our wedding band we will definitely go with a brushed white gold ring.
  • titanium is problematic because if your man's ring gets caught in something, they cannot saw off the ring to free his finger, rather, they will have to cut off his finger to free it.  it is not a good way to go if your man works with his hands a lot.
