This jewelry with plum dresses?

okay gals, opinions please.  Our wedding colors are purple and green.  We are using dark purple (plum, eggplant) and more of an olive green.  (when I say "olive" green I mean we just aren't using apple or lime green, the only green anywhere is in the bouquet and its just a few green roses that are olive hued)

The bridesmaids dresses are going to be this dark purple color and our flowers will have both the dark purple and the olive green in them.  (we haven't decided on an exact style of dress yet)

But I was wondering if the jewelry pictured below would be ok with a dark purple/plum/eggplant dress.   It's green but I'm hoping that it will all tie together.

What do you think?

  • Now you say you're doing olive green, these necklaces look more lime-y to me. I think it might clash with your colors if everything else is olive green and their necklaces are bright, lime green. Note- love the necklaces, not so much the color...Perhaps you should get their pearls in another shade of purple, other than the color purple they're wearing? That would make a dramatic, yet monochromatic, statement and I don't think it would draw any attention away from you the way the lime green pearls might...

  • They do look lime-ish green in this picture but they're really a light olive.  It just didn't show well in the pic.  The only other green they will be up against is a few roses in their bouquets and that rose has like 10 different colors of green in it, its just an olive toned rose (light olive) I guess. lol

I want more green because the only place we have the green is in those few roses in the bouquets.  I was hoping to steer clear from purple jewelry because the bouquets are mostly purple.  Its like there is purple everywhere and very little green.

  • I think it's a beautiful necklace but agree with PP's that it might not look right. What about getting your green from drop earrings or a bracelet? I think a green necklace is a bit....ummm....heavy and too much. Smaller accent pieces is my vote!
  • I disagree with PPs, I really like the necklace. It's not something I would really wear, but I love green and purple together. I think it would work well, depending on the neckline of the dress and your bridesmaids. If your bridesmaids are wearing simplier dresses and with simple necklines, it would make a great statement piece, but if they're fairly petite, it might be overwhelming. I might also look into a necklace that is more metalic, like gold, with a green charm like THIS (the green probably isn't right, but you get the idea) as another option.

  • Personally I think it might be a bit too loud and too much of a color pop to be an accessory.  But then again, I'm usually drawn to more refined styles and less 'chunky' jewelry.  Green and purple do go well together, but they can be a very bold combination.  I agree with PP.  if your girls are small, this might be too large/bold for them.

    Maybe something like these?

  • I LOVE the necklace, but I would hold off on making any jewelry decisions until you've found the BM dresses. Depending on the type of dress and the neckline, you might change your mind on the jewelry.
