i'm not going to brining my dress in for alterations for a few months but i have a huge project of putting close to 3000 flat back swarovski on the multilayer tulle skirt. the skirt is not being altered at all, the bodice is having a corseted back added to it. the seamstress said she didn't know if i should apply them or not because the steaming might remove them.
if i'm using tulle glue or possibly hotfix stones will that be a problem. has anyone else had problems steaming their dress with rhinstones on it? i would wait till after the alteration but 1) i need more time than that gives me unless i plan on building sweatshop in my condo and 2) chances are that the dress will need to be steamed again at some point.
HELP!

Re: Will steaming remove my rhinestones?????
EDIT: Can you buy some tulle and attach the rhinestones by hotfix or the glue then put the sample through the wash? If it can survive the rough and tumble of the washing machine (as well as the heat), I think it should survive steaming. But, that's just my guess.

[QUOTE]I had crystals and embellishments on my gown, and it was steamed after my final fitting and nothing fell off. Wedding gowns are supposed to be steamed before the big day, so the designer would have made it so the rhinestones and any other embellishments would be secure.

Pros often use prong settings or stronger adhesive than a DIYer would. We use hotfix all the time in my job and often give instructions for nothing more than a gentle and light steaming. They can come loose.
