Colored gown for second wedding?

Hi everyone! I am an aging bride (47, with a 10 year old daughter and 8 year old son, and a fiance who has children age 18 and 21.)

I have a pretty good figure and have found some simple wedding gowns I like, but I just feel silly wearing one at my age. I began looking in non-bridal shops, figuring I'd find something I like and order it in champagne or ivory.... and I found a stunning strapless, very dramatic gown and that could be ordered in blush. The problem is, I tried it on in navy and fell in love. It's just gorgeous!

I'm having a November wedding at a beautiful church, my FI will be in a tux, my son will wear a tux and escort me down the aisle. It's a 3 pm ceremony followed by a cocktail reception for about 60. What do you think -- can I just say the hell with tradition, and wear the fabulous gown in classic navy blue, that makes me feel like a million bucks?

I think you should wear the dress you love, so if that's navy, go for it! If you were 20 and it was your first wedding, I'd have the same advice. I think it sounds like a beautiful dress!

Yes! This sounds awesome and very appropriate. Definitely go for it- don't think twice! Well, maybe ask your fiance his opinion first in case he cares about you wearing white at the wedding.

Navy is a great color.  There's no reason you shouldn't wear it.

I think it's especially appropriate for you.  Wear it and love it.  A friend of mine around your age was married the second time in a beautiful black lace gown.  She was comfortable and happy and looked beautiful.

If you fell in love with the navy, then go for it. There are lots of women who wear colored wedding dresses, regardless of their age.

I love the idea of a navy gown. Gorgeous!  And navy dresses look SO sharp alongside black tuxes.  Like a million bucks! Congrats!

I will be a first time bride at age 54. I was having a hard time finding exactly what I wanted so I decided to make my own dress. It is pale pink and I love it. That is all that matters.
