Adding a "mary jane" strap?

Has anyone ever added a strap to a pair of shoes?  I want to wear flats, but I find that the "barely covering the toes" style flats that are in style right now, don't stay on my feet very well.  I was thinking about taking a basic pair of white flats and adding a "mary jane" strap (i.e. an inch or so above where the toe covers)  I've got a pair of brown shoes in that style that I love.  Obviously sewing would be the best way but I think that superglue would work too.  Anyone ever done something like this?  Do you think this would work?

Re: Adding a "mary jane" strap?

  • I think it's possible just take your shoes to a cobbler or shoe guy.
  • I've done this before with elastic for dance performances or you can go to a shoe repair place.
  • I have the same problem with the new style of shoes and one store I was at (The Shoe Company) put a little pad in the front of the shoe under my toe and for some reason it makes my heel stay in.  They also sell them at Aldo.
