white vs. ivory vs. pearl?

Does anyone have any guidance on what the difference is among these three versions of a bridal gown color?  I picked my dress and now I need to decide the color which is giving me analysis paralysis.  My wedding is in February so should that factor into it?  I tried the dress on in a different store than I am buying it so I don't know what color I tried on...yikes! I can't find any guidance on the net.

  • Ask the store if they have fabric swatches, or if not, if they have other dresses in the store by that designer in those colors so you can see the differences.

If not, you can try to contact the designer through their website to see if they can send you fabric swatches, although you might have to wait a couple weeks for them to arrive depending on how quickly they respond.

  • One shade is different than the other. You can call them and maybe they can send a fabric piece of it and whatnot.
  • you really need to try on a dress or a top or something in each color and decide which one looks best on you.  white looked best on my skin tone.  most brides choose off white or ivory - but those colors washed me out.

its not at all about the season...its about what looks good on you personally.
  • Thank you everyone.  This has been very helpful!h

  • I know you've already looked at the answers but I agree with MissySue.  I had a friend who took pictures in all 3 colors of her dress: white, off white, and ivory and in the pictures, the off white just looked better with her. She is light brunette w/ blonde highlights with a fake n bake but not an orange but fake n bake.  It was also suggested by her photographer to go with off white because of how "white" the white can be.  I got lucky - my dress only comes in off-white or ivory so off white it is.  And in her pictures and at the wedding, you couldn't tell her dress was "off-white"

  • You have to really see which one goes best with your skin  type. I am a pink person so the Ivory looked best on me!
