Snarky Brides

Knot Pet Peeves

Mine is one being mentioned in the other thread, so I thought I'd make a seperate one for funsies.

1. Relevant one: When a post that must've been 20 pages back is bumped up by a poster with 5 or less posts. GAH. Do people not understand how forums work? LET A DEAD THREAD STAY DEAD!

2. Any and all use of the term "red flag", especially when you're the 567th person in the thread to do it.

3. Tacky and snarky.

4. When the same answer is posted almost word for word 20 times on the first page.

Aaaand go.

Re: Knot Pet Peeves

  • Pretty much all of yours.

Not necessarily on this board, but when older posters aren't around enough to recognize new faces, then call them out for being new when they've been around for months and months and are pretty well known.

General griping (again on multiple boards) about how the boards are dead/aren't fun/have no topics without actually starting a topic other than griping.

Spinoff of #4: When a post has evolved for pages into something totally different, then someone comes in and answers the OP like none of the rest of it ever happened.

Example: A "what's your favorite wedding color" poll turns into an 8-page long thread arguing about board dynamics and flaming a cocky newb. Then someone comes in and posts "I like purple!"

"cool......insult my size 2 body or my natural brown hair...or the fact that my parents own a country club, I have no budget for a wedding, and I have horses. I really dont care. Its better then having roots." ~ futurepivko
  • Snarky, hands down.  It just sucks.

Oh, and "I have a rant and I figured the SNARKY BRIDES board was the best place to do it." BLEGH.  I want to vomit when I see that.  Preferably on the poster.
  • Oh, and I like purple.

  • Stop being snarky, Nates. ;)

Oh, and related to your pet peeve, it bugs when posters on E do the whole "I expected people to be nicer and more polite on an etikut board" complaint.

  • When someone creates a thread and then never posts in it again like that Downsized thread from last night. WTF is the point? Do you really feel that strongly about it that you just need to get the words out? If that's the case, then get a damn blog.

Agreed.  I don't even lurk there that often and I still see that at least once every couple of days.
  • Board party lines. If you're going just spout out the same old shiit in response to a post asking for advice, at least come up with an original way to say it.

Or when a new poster thinks s/he has to be mean to newbs as a way to fit in or show solidarity with the board.

Also, when people start new threads about topics that are already being discussed. Last week someone started a "good morning/I hate DST" thread when there were already "good morning" and "I hate DST" threads active. I can see if it's been awhile, or the board is crazy busy, but those were pretty much the only active threads that morning.

  • Also, when people have the inability to discuss something with out getting all crazy and either super mad or super butthurt about it.
  • I ditto a lot of the ones already stated.

I'll add when non-regs try to regulate the forum.  If you don't know the board dynamics who are you to guide someone else as to how to post?

I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. *nods*

When people argue with you about internet safety when you point out that they shouldn't be using their email address as their sn, or have first and last names and addresses linked to their open wedding website. Or say where you work, etc.

Yep. That sucks too. I always assume it's because they didn't get the answers they wanted.
  • Ha, I seem to have a lot of pet peeves today. Here's another.

When someone posts a very specific dilemma and needs feedback specific to their situation, and someone comes in and writes a novel about what THEY did in their sort-of-but-not-really-similar situation. They just wanted to AW that they had drama too. I think some OPs are flexible about this, but in general there's a big difference between "what should I do?" and "what would YOU do?"

  • actually every single one of these....

and- I hate when random posters come over here with the sole objective of stirring sh*t up. I don't mind honest opinions or statements that eventually stir sh*t up but drama for the sake of drama exhausts and annoys me
