Hey lady,
I went to sleep before I saw your post in last night's thread about post apocalyptic dystopian fiction...
Definition of sorts: A fiction based on a future society that is very imperfect (dystopia being the opposite of utopia, a society that is perfect) that has come to exist as a result of some sort of huge apocalyptic event that changed the way the current society exists as it does today. It is a sub genre of science fiction (I first came across it when I took a science fiction and fantasy fiction lit class in uni).
LINKS (because my definition is just, well, my definition)
I tend to like this better than fantasy...although I did like HP and the Golden Compass, I really haven't been ever able to get into LOTRs. I find that science fiction, esp, this genre is what I love.
