Paranormal Activity

Anyone seen this? I'm going with friends tonight and I'm excited, but a little nervous. Me reacting to a scary movie is a little embarassing. Loud sudden shrieks that tend to startle people. Also, I can't be touched. My friend Mike grabbed my leg in terror during a movie once and I basically attacked him. I can't seem to get enough of scary movies this year. I think I've watched 4 in the past week.

Re: Paranormal Activity

  • Wow. I just went to Rotten Tomatoes. I've never seen a horror movie score well. Usually below 30%. This one is at 86% Also, a lot of the reviews seem to be telling me I won't sleep tonight. ::Shudders::

  • And it is very, very low budget.

  • You'll have to let me know if it's actually scary or just made-a-loud-sudden-noise-that-made-me-jump scary.

  • I saw it last night, it was pretty good. it dragged a bit at times, but there were some parts that were incredibly creepy. I didn't realize it scared me until the middle of the night, when I needed to use the restroom, and I had to turn on all the lights to do so.there's also not a lot of "jump out and scare you" stuff, it's not a typical horror film. but it's good.
  • it took a while to pick up, but once it did it started to get genuinely creeper mccreepersons. i wouldn't worry about your habit of reacting in a big way to horror movies, because screaming and stuff seems to be really common to showings of this movie. my husband went to see it twice he loved it so much. i didn't go the second time but i thought it worked.i am doing the same thing as you since it's october. in addition to that one last weekend we also watched the descent, drag me to hell, and dusted off the blair witch project. this pattern will continue through halloween.

  • I looooove scary movies. LOVE!  And I usually scream, jump, throw my popcorn in the air, grab the person next to me with the grip of death, etc. etc.  And I usually laugh hysterically at myself right after the freakout (I do this especially bad at haunted houses, which I also love- I lost my voice after a haunted house a couple of years ago)I want to see this movie real bad, so please come back with your rating.  When I saw Blair Witch Project in theaters it scared the beejeezus out of me.  I hadn't seen or heard anything about it, and my BFF at the time thought it'd be hilarious to tell me it was a true story, and I of course believed him (remember when I said my picture's next to gullible in the dictionary? yeah).  I didn't think I'd sleep for a week
  • Shamwow - you will LOVE this movie. And it IS a true story. Seriously.

  • the summer the blair witch project came out, i had spent 12 weeks as a camp counselor in the north woods of wisconsin living in a platform tent. coming back and finding out THAT was the sensation of the summer, yeah, that was awesome.

  • Ha! Good thing you saw it AFTER that summer Katie.
    image
  • oh this makes me so happy.  I think I'll have to go see it this weekend!
  • Do it Shamwow. I had so much fun being scared! I had to call Cali on the way home to keep me from freaking out!
    image
  • That's excellent!  I'm stupid excited about this, really, I'm truly giddy.  J is going to make so much fun of me and I don't even care
  • Ooh. I don't want to build it up and then disappoint you. I always do that when I enjoy a movie. Don't be built up Shamwow. I love most horror/scary/tense movies. I'm a low bar kiddo.
    image
  • oh no worries, I'm 45% low bar and 55% skeerdy cat
  • Yeah, Shamwow, don't build it up to much. I thought it was pretty much the next Blair Witch Project. It definitley kept you on the edge of your seat and was super creepy, but we thought they could have done so much more with it and made it much better. I was still a little freaked when I was home by myself the next night though.

  • I'm definitely on the fence about scary movies.  I love watching them, but then I freak myself out so badly after the fact that it's not necessarily worth it.  To this day, I'm still scared to look under my bed because of that clown scene in Poltergeist.

  • I should clarify- I'm partly excited because I love scary movies and this one has gotten good reviews from several people I know (so the pressure's not all on you, C), but the majority of my excitement is that I will be leaving my own couch to watch a NEW movie while it's still in the THEATER!  I've forgotten what that's even like.  I think the last movie we saw in the theater was Slumdog Millionaire, and I can't even remember when that was but it feels like forever agoSo three cheers for actually getting to go out in public this weekend!
  • I love going to the movies. Absolutely love it. And I will say that I laid in bed awake last night playing certain scenes over and over in my head. I kept trying to think of something else and failing.

  • I freaking loved this movie. I went with my bff to a midnight showing and we ended up holding hands more than fi and I normally do on any given day. lolNovember - is that your bully in the pic? He/she is adorable! I have a soft spot in my heart for bullies, I was raised with them and have one of my own.
  • Yep, that's my bullie, Mabel.  She's awesome:)

  • November- Did you have her in your wedding? Looks that way from the pic. Our venue won't allow us to have our dogs there so we're trying to find a different way to incorporate her. She's technically my dog but my fi was there the day I picked her up (and we weren't even dating back then) and has been her daddy ever since.
