Snarky Brides

Morning!

Puppies woke me up early today, so I've been awake for awhile.  It's apparently going to be 80* here today, with chances for thunderstorms the rest of the week. I'm kind of excited, actually.  It's like a perfect spring morning right now, too.

I've got a crap ton of meetings again today, but I really hope they're not as ridiculous as my meetings yesterday. I seriously wonder about the people I work with sometimes. One example- I've been getting phone calls from parents lately, and I could not figure out why. (I used to work with the on-campus stuff, but I haven't for almost two years.)

Turns out, they NEVER changed my voicemail message on my old phone. TWO YEARS and no one had checked the messages. (And our student staff have to call out from that number if they dial long distance, so tons of parents/students were calling back from caller id.)  ffs.  That was just one of about 427 WTF moments yesterday.

Anyway. Anything fun planned this week?

Re: Morning!

  • Morning Steph!

The pups woke me up early too. Ike is used to eating at 6 am so I'm trying hard to push it back day by day. You should see him now. He's running around me right now, tail wagging, super pumped thinking breakfast is coming soon.

    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • haha sounds like Levi. He paces by the front door until he hears us open the closet (where their food is stored.) Then he bolts downstairs and stands by the bathroom door (where we feed him), tail waging like crazy. nutso dogs.
  • Ike is now pushing his bowl around the floor. What a goof.

Are you having a ton of meetings because the school year is almost over? Or is it always like that?
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • Oh yeah- I thought badges and the post order was supposed to be fixed on the 30th. Another fail by IT.
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • That's part of it, yeah. I actually work with all the summer stuff, and our first groups arrive May 13th (holy crap), so everyone is in panic mode now. Even though I've been asking for stuff since, oh, January to avoid the last-minute rush. Oh well.

IT is never really going to fix anything. Thinking they will is faulty logic.

I have that job testing today, I have to get there for 9, and I think it lasts until 3pm. I booked a vacation day at work and I sent out an email informing everyone in the office that I was going to be away so I wouldnt be able to get certain things done but if there was anything to be rushed so and so (as I was advised to say by the controller) would be able to help them until I got back on Wednesday. Almost immediately I heard people go into the boardroom and a buddy of mine bbm'd me "bad news, stupidbitch is complaining about you again, good news, bossman isnt having anything of it", apparently he turned her complaining back around on her, but they were still in the boardroom and I could hear her squacking for 20 minutes. Then after I left she sent an email out advising of something ive done wrong and telling me that I should have been checking inventory levels everyday, even though I was never once told how to do so or even that I was supposed to, so I emailed the controller telling him as such since he was cc'd on the whole thing. It just makes me shake my head. I cant get a new job fast enough.
  • boo Nebb. But at least the higher-up seems to have your back! Good luck on your testing today :)
  • Good luck Nebb!
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • Ugh, nebb. I feel for you...I couldn't work there without losing it on that woman. Good luck on your testing - you're going to rock it, for sure.

It was a long night. The cats were all over us again, and I've been awake since 4. This morning, Eli is back to his old tricks and is refusing to eat his wet food. The same wet food he snarfed down previously. I'm SO glad I bought a case of 24 at $3/can. I hope I can return the unused cans and get something else. Grr.

  • Good luck today Nebb!

I'm leaving in just a sec. FH has off today so we're getting breakfast and then he'll drop me at work.

Today is actually an exciting day at work. They're officially opening two gigantic new buildings that will double the size of the hospital. It's also going to make my life easier since everything is closer to my office. It's crazy to me that it's finally done, when I started working there 4 and a half years ago it was just a foundation and metal frame.

    Thanks guys :)

I had a moment of glee towards the end of the day yesterday, something was going on and I was told to do by one of the other staff and so I discussed it with him and the graphics department to get it taken care of. Stupidbitch comes in like 20 minutes later to inform me of all of the things I need to consider when getting it done and I just said, "yeah I already all of that" and she just stood flabbergasted in the door and then walked away. She truly and honestly thinks I cant do what I am doing, she thinks what she was doing was so difficult but honestly its so easy its almost a little insulting to me that I have to do it. I have a strong feeling thats why she pulled the whole "inventory" thing out after I had left to knock me down a peg.

Oh, and some random guy just took all of our recycling and put it in his trunk :/
  • Good luck today, nebb.

I'm so annoyed with our sales team. Biggest group of morons ever. I did a clothing company earlier and every verion of "chic" was spelled "sheik" or "sheek." And I just spent the last 15 minutes putting sites on hold for errors they know better than to make. It's a waste of my goddamn time.

What pisses me off is that management is constantly bitching at us to do this to make the design team's jobs easier, do that to make QC's job easier. Well, how about you idiots teach the other sales idiots to make our lives easier? I dn't know why my team is the company dumping grounds but I'm so irritated that we are expected to be 100% perfect, yet we get complete shiit to work with.

It sounds like you guys in your department get so little support, you especially. Its so stupid. Why cant everyone just be accountable for their own eff ups, instead if making you guys responsible.
  • Morning ladies. I slept so hard last night that when my alarm went off this morning, I was like "WTF is that sound? Make it stop."

I have a big advancement test coming up on Thursday. I've been studying, but this is my fourth time taking it, so I'm kinda burnt out and feel a little hopeless. Last May's test, I placed 2 away from the cutoff (#27 out of 195 testers), and then last November's test I placed #49 out of 200 and the cutoff was 7. So, being in the top 25% doesn't really mean squat these days. I remember when just taking the damn test guaranteed a promotion, but nope. Damn recession. I'm still going to keep studying my ass off, but yeah, I'm trying to keep my bleak outlook at bay.

I try not to let it bother me, but sometimes you can't ignore it. Like when management gets all "Design is doing fantastic! Why can't you be more like them?"

Um, design didn't have to sift through thousands of words of bullshiit to put a website together. We did all the hard work for them, all they have to do is follow our directions. When design does something wrong, it's our fault. When we do something wrong, it's our fault, not sales.

This entire process starts with sales. Why they don't put them through any training at all is beyond me. And management knows this, they just don't care to put forth the effort. All of this is made worse when the new guy on the job comes in and tells us all we suck. Dude, you've been here for 10 seconds. Slow your roll.

Good luck on YOUR test Mehg!
  • Steph, that's ridiculous but I am so not surprised.  Apparently, none of the grad students in my old department were informed that I'd left, so I keep getting panicked emails about registration, graduation, residency, admissions, etc.  Yeah the guy that was being ridiculously unprofessional to me before I left?  He's the grad coordinator, so I just keep forwarding every single e-mail to him.  I did not want a big to-do when I left, but it would have been nice for them to have at least let everyone know I was leaving so this shiit wouldn't be happening.

    Nebb, good luck today!

Sesh, as always, the people you work for are idiots.

So now, good morning!  I don't have too much going on today.  I'll mostly be catching up on some stuff from when I was out at a seminar last week.  And PSA to anyone who cares, Fitness Magazine is doing a special, 2 years for $12.  I don't know if that's something they do all the time, but I noticed it when I was browsing the website yesterday.

    Have a great day, ladies!

  • good morning.

Good luck on your tests Nebb and Mehg!

I've got a gazillion things to do today and a bunch of meetings that are in all different buildings. I usually don't mind walking between all of them, but it's supposed to be pretty humid today and I assume by the end of the day I'll look like Tina Turner a la Mad Max :(

  • Morning!

Today should be on the busier side of things, which I have no complaints about.  I'm pretty tired though, FI has been playing his whole "hey let's set the alarm at 4:45 when I should get up and hit snooze until 5:20 when Leah gets up" game.  NOT COOL.  I think it's funny that he always tells me to wake him up and then when I do after the first alarm I get the whole "1 more minute" routine and then I give up.  He has two alarms that go off and always hits snooze on the wrong one.  I pretty much sit there wide awake and say "That one is your phone!" or "Nope, you are hitting your phone, it is the alarm clock" for a half hour every morning.
  • Mehg- Good luck with your test. I know how frustrated H gets when it's only a 5%-12% promotion rate.

Good luck on your tests, ladies!

I told one of my managers yesterday that its hard to work when you feel like you're a princess. I haven't been excited much for the wedding until this week and now I'm like "whatever, I'm getting married. work is beneath me."

  • I'm pretty sure I was useless the week before our wedding. H's dad was in town so we were hanging with him, the rest of his family came in a couple days before, and there was so much to do, mostly little things that I couldn't do until the day of, but still, they were on my mind.
  • eek Jenna! So close! I don't think I ever asked- where is the wedding??

I must be weird. I only took off Thursday/Friday before the wedding (but it was on Sunday), and only Monday/Tuesday after. By this point, I was just 'meh. I want the damn wedding to be here already.'
  • I'm taking thursday and Friday off, maybe half day Wednesday. I have to work next week starting at 4 PM on Monday, as it's year end and they need me. I started this job after I had a wedding date set but I don't even get more than a one day honeymoon. That's why we are going to an All You Can Eat Sushi joint on Sunday and stuffing our faces. I'm really excited for that.

  • I took the Friday before off (Saturday wedding)., as did H. We spent the day back and forth from the cabin to our house delivering crap and getting the place ready. Our families also came and helped out that day. I think I had more fun with the prep work the day before than the actual wedding, since I was nervous about the wedding and don't like all that attention.
  • Um...so WTF is up with this "Fifty Shades of Grey" series?

Unrelated, I know. My co-workers are talking like it's the be-all and end-all of books, but I have a hard time buying that. Anyone read it?
