Weird stuff that fascinates you

I'm sick today, so I'm watching lots of TV and doing caligraphy.

Current favorite--Dr. G, Medical Examiner. I'm obsessed with this show! I love any docs about medical stuff or oddities--conjoined twins, rare diseases, birth defects. I think I have a problem...

So...what odd things are you fascinated by? Serial killers (a mild interest of mine)? Weird sex fettishes? What intrigues you because of (or in spite of) it's strangeness?

Ditto on the serial killers, rho.  When I get bored at work, I google famous ones and read about them - Ted Bundy, the Zodiac Killer, Gary Ridgway, Aileen Wournos.  Etc, etc, etc.  I'm fascinated.

Also fascinated with that show Hoarders.

Yes to serial killers and sex fettishes.

I'm interested in understanding the urge to kill someone else--not because I want to do it (or, not most of the time, anyway).  I just can't imagine feeling such a strong urge to murder that I'd do it repeatedly.

Sex fettishes interest me because I'm always interested in how far people go.  Everyone looks (to a certian degree) normal on the outside--what makes them tick on the inside?  This can be extended to just knowing intimate details of people's lives in general.  Do you walk around naked?  Pick your nose?  I always wonder what happens behind closed doors.

Torture devices, stories of torture etc. Really anything like that. Also, serial killers, rapists etc. (these its more of a how in the hell can one mentally do this). I like skulls and dead things. Its weird. But I hold steadfast that  we all have our own darkness I just happen to be drawn to whose who allow theirs to take over.

Yeah I love true crime books and serial killers.  My FI thinks I'm an ax murdered, but I just tell him that I learn a lot about what not to do. 

Why can't Dexter just win the emmy for best drama already anyways??? It's been an awesome show forever, and it drives me nuts that the same shows win year after year.

Dexter rules! We don't have Showtime so we wait for the DVDs. J is gonna be Dexter for Halloween, and yes there will be pictures!

I'm also interested in sexual fettishes. I have a few friends who are Doms and they tell me their stories all the time. It's amazing the things people are turned on by--some totally innocuous and others really, really crazy. I really want to know what draws someone to that stuff--what about rubber suits or having your balls crushed is sexy? So strange

I enjoy reading about mental disorders on Wikipedia, specifically cases of multiple personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, etc.

And also, mental hospitals. Because they're creepy.

I love to watch all the medical documentaries as well!  The more rare the problem the better!  This may stem from me being a nurse though.  My fiance hates when I call him after work to tell him about my day.  Apparently I have no filter and gross him out on a regular basis. lol.  I told him to get used to it, he has 50+ years to look forward to!  

I'm also intrigued by all things paranormal. I've never personally had an experience with anything but I love to hear others accounts.

me too, Nicki! what kind of nursing do you do? I work in NICU and I hate to admit it, but I kinda like when we get something out of the ordinary--it's terribly fascinating. But not that I wish it on anybody--some of it is really sad.

Jack the Ripper. As in, I would love to go back in time and witness a murder fascinated.

The universe. I could sit for hours and think about life and how it works and how we're here. Not in a religious way, just how our bodies work and nature and whatnot.

Whisky's meows. Is he actually saying kitty words? Is he speaking sentences in his head and thinking I'm an idiot when I don't understand?

The male anatomy. It's only recently that I've been able to look and not feel anxious or panicky and that's a brand new fascinating feeling for me.

rho, I work med-surg.  I have seen such a vast variety of people and situations that I never even dreamed of going through nursing school.  The psych patients are never a dull moment.  I had one pt who was suicidal and she would masterbate all day long then want to hug everyone.  Seen a 55lb tumor taken out of a woman.  Some pretty rare diseases and surgeries that I had never heard of until then come up from PACU.  I love my job but OB is my passion.  I'm hoping to transfer when a position opens.  That will bring on a whole other realm of oddities. lol.

last night when I got home from work I was standing by the pantry getting stuff for dinner, and Whisky literally batted his dish against my foot wanting more food. I am fascinated by the fact that pencil skirts cut off the feeling to my insides, and they aren't tight at all. I can't tell when I need to pee or eat while wearing a high waisted skirt. I wonder if the waistband hits some spot on my spine or something. It is weird, but if that's what it takes to suppress my appetite, I have one in every color. I could write a book called the Pencil Skirt Diet. I bet people would buy it.
