  • Have you tried that Mother's Milk tea?  You're right that it could totally be a hormonal thing.  How often are you pumping?  Think you can sneak inn an extra session or 2?  If you want, I can ask my bff what she experienced and let you know, or even put you in touch with her.

  • Oh Tide, I'm so sorry.  I was off the computer (power outage) for a couple of hours, so I just saw this.  Sucks.  Like others have said, the sacrifice you're making for your family is incredible, and it WILL pay off.  It will.    The hard times will be worth it.  I promise.
  • Katie - I'm sorry for your BIL.  That's got to be hard.

Sucrets - I'm pumping every 3 hours during the day.  I do allow myself to get 6 hours of sleep at night, because I just can't make myself get up at 3 in the morning to pump.  I can't.  I try to power pump once every night in the evenings.  I've been trying to make sure that I drink tons of water, too.  Hopefully it will pass.

If you could ask your friend about her pumping schedule and tips, that would be great.

OMG, Tide, sleep woman, really.  Don't get up at 3 am to pump.  No.  Formula is not arsenic!  Give yourself a teensy bit of a break here.  You poor thing.

ETA:  please give yourself 8 hours of sleep.  It might help your milk supply.
  • Oh wow, go you!  That's a lot of pumping.  When I was pumping when Em was still in the NICU, I really disliked it.  I don't know how my friend did it for 18 months...it's insane.  I also applaud you for continuing to pump while you're away!  I will shoot her an email and maybe then send her reply to you.  :)

I need to get to bed, but I agree with everyone else.  You're awesome for doing this and once it's over, you never have to do it again.  Keep your chin up!    (((hugs)))

  • This must be so hard for you...being away from your family.  But just know that you are doing this FOR your family and that 10 weeks will be over before you know it.  And Taryn will never remember it...she will only see what a cool K9 officer her mom is:)

  • Okay, I emailed her.  She's probably sleeping (she's a teacher), but I'll shoot you a message on FB when she writes back.

Keep up the good work!  Even if something does happen to your supply, you still are giving her as much as you can and that's incredibly important, and you know that.  And, coming from someone who delivered early for no reason, sometimes your body just has other plans.  It sucks and it's not what we want, but we get through it.

  • That's great Tide!  You've got lots of milk then.  Good for you.

  • Oh Tide, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I wish I could hug you right now.

When you and Cew plan the GTG I'd love to tag along. I'd be thrilled to meet you, and maybe we could take your mind off things for an afternoon.

I love you! Hang in there.

  • Tide - I feel bad for you. Stay positive - things will work out.

On another note, it throws me off seeing "Taryn" all through this post because that's my name and I'm not used to seeing it since it's not very common.
  • Sorry Tide, I just saw this - but you poor thing! Tons of hugs! How are you doing now?
