Right now i'm on Clomid and Ovidrel injections. The next step is IUI and then IVF if IUI doesn't work. We can probably only afford two rounds of IVF (if it comes to that). At that point I'll give up and be forced to accept that it's not meant to be.

Tide- I agree with you.  Although I have not been in the situation so I can't say how I would react in that situation. But the women on that board were just BSC.   I would never use the Bible to tell other people what they can't do.

I was taught (in Catholic high school) that the bible was written by God and simply penned by men - so it was divinely inspired. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I feel about that the same way I feel about transubstantiation. That sure doesn't taste like Jesus. It tastes like a flavorless cracker.

I'm so glad H didn't insist on a Catholic wedding. (I kept double checking with him. His mom converted and his parents had a full mass at their wedding. His grandmother had a full funeral mass. I didn't want him to regret not doing it, but I also REALLY didn't want to have to do one.)

I think most (and no I don't have any statistics to back this up, just from my experience) people who are against IVF suddenly think it's not so bad once they are told they can't conceive naturally. Especially once they realize it's cheaper and for a lot of people adoption isn't even a possibility.

My coworker is in the process of applying for their first child after a failed IVF attempt, and another is trying for a second adoption. It is not easy. at. all. And the abundance of children that need homes are not available for adoption anyway. </div>

My thoughts exactly. It is very difficult to adopt in the US. And the cost if you go overseas is enormous. No normal people I know can afford to go through all this, it's not Juno for gods sake. Ooops I shouldn't bring him into this thread.

Luckily, it's actually pretty easy out here in S.D.

Once you get approved and take all the courses, which i've been told takes less than a year, most people get matched within a few months.  A friend of ours went from . "we should see if we can adopt" to "help us welcome our baby" in only 10 months.

I agree with Blue that it seriously makes me cringe about having a Catholic wedding (no offense to Catholics out there- but some of those girls are a little extremist).

I did a story last year and spent a few weekends outside the local abortion clinic with the protestors and clinic escorts. There was aggression and outlandish statements from both sides. And most people, on both sides, were very levelheaded and cool. But no one's mind was ever changed. I've kind of let issues like this just go since.

Whether or not a woman gets an IVF treatment is just really none of my damn business.
