I hate to say this, but as much as I think he is a d-bag now and never want to watch any of his new movies, I will never give up Braveheart of Bird on a Wire. Just can't do it.

It sucks he's gone so nutso. Oh, and I also think the girl is just a gold digger doing everything she can to take all his money, but that's an entirely different issue.

ETA--I didn't actually listen to the recording. I've read articles outlining the basics, some saying she set him up, some saying he's just a pr!ck. I'm leaning towards pr!ck with a touch of setup.

Ditto on not being able to give up Braveheart. I effin' love that movie, and no amount of cray cray will ever change that. But in regards to the current situation, holy hell wtf. Huh, that's interesting tide. I just listened to about a minute of it and was wondering why her voice sounded so clear, like it was taped over. I couldn't understand a lot of what "Mel" said though with all the crazy screaming, but what I made out was disturbing.

Even set up, it's still sad that someone who was such an icon has gone so low to call someone a cvnt and tell them he wants to shoot their brains out. It was strange how her voice is all clear and perfect while his was muffled. Still, that's some anger.

I didn't listen to the tapes, and haven't really read anything he said. I never liked him that much to begin with, so it's irrelevant to me. FWIW, I think he's a douche.

I know I'll get flamed for saying this, but from the beginning I've been telling J how fake they sound. Obviously he's angry, but she sounds like she's speaking into a mic (not a phone) and has a case of the bad acting virus. Seriously. I'm not defending Mel, but I sincerely don't think these tapes are 100% real.

FWIW - Mel's ex-wife filed a petition with the court today stating that in their 28 years of marriage he was never violent physically towards her or their children. Not sure about verbal.

To be fair, if someone spent a month taping everything that I said without me knowing it, they could probably piece together something completely horrible on me, too.  If he really did beat her, and she submits these tapes in court as evidence, after it's already been proven that they've been tampered with, she's going to lose her case, and I think that she would deserve it.

ETA:  I still think that he's BSC, and it makes me sad.

I agree, I think it sounds fake. She is way too calm and sounds weird, for it to be real. It sounds almost dubbed, though I cant be sure. I have always ALWAYS liked mel, so I think this sounds just a bit unbelievable. I do think he sounds completely strung out in the tapes though, like he is on something or out of it. Who knows.
