Good morning!

I hope everyone enjoyed their day yesterday. I went to my parents for a cookout and then to dinner and fireworks downtown with a friend. We got stuck in a parking garage for 45 minutes and didn't get home until almost midnight so I'm dragging today. I am officially in single digits in my countdown!

Re: Good morning!

• So close! Parking is the big reason I've given up trying to go to see fireworks.

I'm seriously dragging today. Idiot neighbors were lighting off fireworks again so I didn't fall asleep until 10:30 or so (I usually go to bed at 9.) Whatever, it was teh 4t. But then someone across the street starting shooting them off again at 12:30a. Not just bottle rockets and the ground ones either. Nope. We could see the flash from the set-off and they exploded about 20 feet in the air... right at the tree line. idiots. So I called 911 and the operator actually thanked me, because they had apparently gotten complains from our area, but no one could pinpoint where they were coming from. The cops were out there like 2 minutes later, and then the fireworks stopped. ;)

But. I never fell back asleep until like 1:30, and woke up at 5 like always. I think I'm going to treat myself to Starbucks or Caribou this morning. mmmm.
• Morning! Last night we were able to see the Boston fireworks from a beach not to far from us. It was cool because you could see fireworks from all of the surrounding towns on the water. There were maybe 30 cars at this little beach so it was nice with little traffic. Only sucky thing is that a storm as blowing in and after 10 min.the fireworks were hard to see because of all of the smoke.
• Steph, I'm sorry your neighbors are assholes. I would have called, too. Lbarr, that does sound really cool. It was so crowded where we were and we didn't really enjoy them.

I didnt want to get outta bed this morning, AT ALL. Today is going to be rough, I suspect. I miss the weekend where I just sat and read all day and shuffled around with a beer and had no concept of time. Why does it have to only be thursday?
• I love the 4th ('Merica!), but I also hate it. Our city is under a burn ban and they amended it to include personal fireworks because everything is crunchy and hella dry. Our dillhole neighbors were setting off fireworks (bottle rockets and those loud boom fuckers) at fucking 2am. MURDER. I don't care if they burn their own house down, it'd be a blessing to our neighborhood. But if I so much as find remnants of bottle rockets on my property, I am going to march my pissed off ass over to their house and chew someone's face off.

I'm not in a good mood today.
• Morning! I'm just making breakfast and waiting for the family to arrive. We could sort of see fireworks from our porch but we were so tired we just went to bed at 9. Lbarr that sounds like a great spot. I like fireworks but hate crowds. Nebb I am sorry you're stuck at work!

• Good morning. I was crankypants yesterday. We went to a friend's party. I was planning on driving so I brought myself 2 beers for the 4 hours we'd be there (I didn't like the keg they were having). Some dillweed went into the house and took one of my beers from the fridge. I only got one beer. I know, minor, but damnit don't drink something if you didn't bring it. It's not like it was in the community ice chest on the driveway. Douchebag! Got to go see some fireworks yesterday, so that made me happy.

Tomorrow we leave for the happiness in MSP. My mother is on my last nerve already. She's saying "Oh, we can't possibly bring an umbrella in our carry-on bag, because then TSA will search us!" First off, uh NO. And second, if they do search us, who cares? It's not like we're going to be smuggling a midget or anything. Jeez woman, mellow!
• Good morning!
Hope everyone had a safe 4th. We had fireworks going off in our neighborhood from 8:30-12:30 probably? the 13 year old kid across the street was lighting them in the street, unsupervised and it was bugging me.

I went to my grandpa's 80th bday party and got to hang out with my sisters and parents, but then I was home alone by 7 PM. for some reason I threw a little pity party for myself about being alone again on a holiday. I mean, I could have called friends or did something last night but I sat at home inside instead. Woo.

• Good morning.
Steph, I had the same problem last night. The houses right behind me were setting off fireworks so closs that it felt as if they were hitting the window I sleep under. It was the 4th but at 2 am, I was over the celebrations. This was the first year in 3 years we didn't have a burn ban so people went nuts.

• Mara- we had random crap all over our yard/street from the neighbors. I'd go yell at them, but I don't care enough.

BK- I saw your post yesterday, but forgot to respond. I've heard good thing about Moe's too, but I've never been.
• Steph- Thanks. I went to go check that post and fucking TK ate it. Stupid TK.

• Good morning. Sounds like several of us had similar nights. Our neighbors were setting off fireworks all freaking night long and our dogs were going insane. I'm dragging asss today so thank goodness I don't have any client meetings. I just want to curl up on my desk and sleep.

Have a great day, ladies!

• You know, normally I put up with the fireworks around this time of year because it's a fireworks holiday. But when a very small firework can light a 20 x 20 patch of grass on fire in 3 seconds (as demonstrated in a video by our local fire dept), I'm less willing to put up with this stuff, mainly for safety purposes.
• Good morning! We got to see some fireworks before they cut them off due to "technical difficulties." They also had this 70s cover band that was cracking me up. The woman in the band was terrible- I have to give her massive props just for being up there, but she sang "Sweet Home Alabama" and I thought my ears might start bleeding.

I think there are maybe 10 people in my office today, which is nice. What is not nice, though, is the fact that Nicki Minaj's "Starships" is stuck in my head. I cannot get rid of it.

• Good morning, ladies.

I lol'd at smuggling a midget, BK.

Our current fire ban is so strict it includes charcoal grilling (in my own backyard). Propane is ok (since it can be shut off) but no charcoal cooking or cigarette smoking outside a car or building. So, technically someone could be fined $1,000 for smoking on their patio.

We didn't hear one firecracker or any fireworks all night. All professional displays were banned too. It didn't seem like the 4th at all. Understandable, but very unusual.

You're so close, Brandi!

Yes! I started getting really excited yesterday when I left my parents and said "I will see you guys in Fayetteville for the wedding!". I just feel like I should be doing something and I can't think of anything I've missed.

Edie- Love your new sig!

• Morning! Sounds like most of us are cranky :)

We went to some fireworks last night, it was raining like 20 minutes before them pretty bad and we weren't sure if they were gonna happen but they did and it was fun.

This morning has been dealing with bank drama. H called all his banks/card companies before we left to let them know where/when we were traveling for the honeymoon. Well when we were down there he couldn't access his online banking stuff and then his card got denied. We were pissed..like wtf is the purpose of calling them if they can''t keep it straight and are gonna freeze your accounts anyway?! Then of course we get back and they are closed for the 4th.

Finally get ahold of them this morning and it turns out that someone made all sorts of charges in Georgia. It sounds like it's going to be okay but it's just a PITA to sort out and deal with all sorts of bad customer service. It feels like those "Peggy" commercials.

• Morning!

We had a fantastic day yesterday. It was one of our best BBQ's. There was some neigborhood fireworks but they didnt go too late so it didnt bother me. Its just Gia hates it and that is why she pissed in my bed tuesday night. So ill have to leave the AC blasting and the TV up loud if we head out at night somewhere for the next few days so she doesnt get BSC and pee everywhere.

You're supposed to tell you're bank you're going away?? I've never heard of that.

It's recommended for international travel. If you don't, they often will freeze your account as a precaution (thinking someone stole your card.) Mine will do this if there are unusual charges... I learned that when I couldn't buy an upgrade ticket on the way home from Costa Rica a few years ago. oops. I just had to call and confirm it was me using the card, and it worked fine.
Oy Capone that's annoying. I wish they would have called you so you would know why you were locked out. I laugh at those Peggy commercials.
Posted by edielaura
They may have tried but we both had our phones off for the HM (crazy roaming charges). H had tried to call them earlier while we were still there but we couldn't get a call to go through.

Nebb--yeah it's usually a good idea to let them know so they don't see charges from somewhere crazy and think it's "suspicious activity". Our banks are touchy. H got calls from his bank when he booked the HM too actually just because it was a lot of money so apparently that makes it suspicious haha. I mean it's nice that they are so concerned with security but it makes it a hassle sometimes.

• If you're out of the country, Nebb. Also advised to let your cellphone provider know too - my phone wouldn't have worked in Belize if I didn't tell them ahead of time to turn on international travel.

I don't think it's a burrito place. It seems like it is just a bar/restaurant. THIS is the place.

Great, the fire near CO Springs is almost 100% contained. But, now there's bears, wolves and coyotes wandering through neighborhoods because they lost their homes too.

I used to go shopping in NY state before we needed passports to cross, but since we don't have money to travel, passports aren't a huge priority. It'll cost a fair penny for us both to get them so we just havnt bothered. I've been a lot of places in Canada, but practically nowhere else.
Morning y'all! Brandi - you're super close! I would definitely alert your bank for international travel. My bank was super weird though. It worked on the plane (to buy drinks), worked in St. Lucia, but was declined everywhere in Miami. When I got back and called, they said they decline any transaction in Miami only because of the high level of identity theft that occurs there. It was weird. And embarssing at the time.
Posted by rachers1017
Very odd! They're probably used to the declining if identity theft is so popular there, though. This is making the consider taking only cash on our HM.
