Definitely worth the time, and not a huge read. I believe it's a 3 book series and had huge praise from Jean Auel. Set in the southwest and touches on the Anisazi and building the first "city". Kokopelli is a huge character in the book and the last one goes down to the Aztec (I think, possibly Maya, it's been a while).

Hmm, interesting. I'll have to see if I can find it. I read all of his books that our public library had, and that wasn't one of them. I know I should wait for my birthday to get my Kindle...but damnit I want one now.
I always have to mention it whenever SciFi/Fantasy series comes up: Brent Weeks "The Night Angel" Trilogy is phenomenal. The first of his new series just dropped today, and I haven't had a chance to read it to see if it's good, but Night Angels is awesome.
DH actually got me into fantasy, and he loves pretty much every series that got named in this thread (And has me slowly working my way through them ... I'm not touching WOT until the series is completely finished, though).

Martin better finish this series. I will not be a happy girl.
I just remembered a kind of sci-fi series I read recently and loved. I can't remember the author but the books were called "City of Bones," "City of Glass," and "City of Ash." They are a young adult read but really interesting. I was fascinated by them. They are about demon hunters, vampires, fairies, all types of creatures, and a girl who discovers she comes from a line of Shadow Hunters.

YES. As long as sex in the books doesn't bother you.
Cher, if you like the Kushiel series definitely check out Sebastien and Belladonna, as well as the Black Jewel series by Anne Bishop. They are a bit raunchy (the main character of Sebastien is an incubus) but in a fabulous way.

I have to say I hate Terry Goodkind's writing with the firey passion of a thousand suns. It is so completely dumbed down and repetitive and it made me want to stick hot pokers in my eyes.
I find The Shannara books a little more elementary, like I read them when I was about 14. Same with Piers Anthony's Xanth series. Have you red Gaiman's Neverwhere? That one is fantastic.
I'm stuck 1/2way through the second RR Martin book. I don't know why, maybe because it's a stressful read (so many characters, so much happening) that I can only read it a bit at a time.
I'm more of an Aurthurian Legend freak, though. I love me some Bernard Cornwell and Jack Whyte and Stephen R Lawhead.

Sarah, it's definitely very intense book sex. I may have jumped H after reading a few of the scenes from Kushiel's Chosen. It's not your typical froo froo vanilla sex scene either. And now I'm blushing.

Sword of Truth was amazing at the beginning, but got really preachy at the end. Anything after Faith of the Fallen was just blah.
Eddings, love those. My H is BEGGING me to name a son Khendon. Begging. Like, he won't give it up. Or Brogan (I foget which series that name is from).

Yes, that's it. I must admit I originally only picked up the book because a hot shirtless guy with tattooes was on the cover. Turned out the story line was great, so I felt a little less creepy. All 3 books totally sucked me in.

YES. As long as sex in the books doesn't bother you.

[QUOTE]Oh, and if you haven't read them yet, you'd probably also like the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, and the Sword of Shannara series by Terry Brooks. More modern kind of fantasy, Neil Gaiman's American Gods is one of my all time favourites.
