Nates, I freaked myself out again just talking about that stupid bat and general scary things under beds/in closets. I wasn't kidding at the end of the night thread yesterday when I said I was going to check my closet and under my bed before sleeping.  I actually did :-P

Damn looks like I'll be all alone in Siberia.

  • We are hitting Crater Lake in OR and a rainforest (OMG name is escaping me) in WA. Also the aquarium in Seattle, downtown Portland, Newport OR and a bunch of other little pit stops, planned by Zach. It will be our first vacay together, just the 2 of us.

Kate, please tell me more about San Juan Island.

I'd go if I had to, but I'd totally become an alcoholic. It's just too cold not to drink a lot.

  • jenna, your trip sounds awesome!  I've only been to Portland, which was so much fun, but I'd love to do a Napa Valley/ Seattle/ Frisco trip.

Loopy that's nice that you have a big garage for everything!
    image
  • That sounds like an awesome trip Jenna.  Enjoy it :).  Make sure you plan for some down time too in case you run across something that peaks your interest that's not in your agenda, or just want to spend a morning in bed.
  • I guess my answer would depend on what kind of lifstyle I had. I'd rather be poor in Ghana than Siberia.

Ha, LP! It was freaky! I wonder where the whole Reaper storyline is going.

<div>All the more reason to pick Siberia ;)  I do better in the cold than the heat generally.  And yet, I live in NC.  Figure that one out. </div>

Thanks Loopy, and congrats! :) :)

I'm actually a tad worried about this. Currently we have every single minute booked almost with traveling between spots, etc. One day we are staying at a B&B overlooking Crater Lake which looks amazing. Right now the H has it planned to get up by 9 and hit the road for the next stop. We might have to push that back so we can just lay in bed and relax. After this summer we will need a nice getaway!

  • My coworker went with her husband to the San Juan Islands and loved it. They took their car over on the ferry so they could drive around once they got there. It looks so peaceful and relaxing!! They loved it so much that they want to buy property there, but I think it is pretty expensive to buy there.

Sorry! I was applying to one of the jobs.

I loved wind through the keyhole, it had just enough roland/ka-tet to bring them back to me and then sorta had two stories (a story inside a story) and it just was a nice little sliver of midworld. It was way way way too short though.

Now I am reading Taltos by Anne Rice, im re-reading her mayfair witch series since it had been so long since I read it and its amazing the details im noticing now that I seemed to always skim over when I read it when I was younger (no idea why). Im enjoying it!

Loopy has a good point about taking it easy.

I'm usually the psycho planner of the two of us, but H begged me to slow down for our delayed HM in July. I just feel like i need to SEE ALL THE THINGS when we go somewhere and he likes to just relax.  We're trying to balance out our trip, but we'll see how it goes.
  • Um, now I want to steal your trip. Crater lake looks amazing.

<div>Me too.  When we backpacked Ireland/England a couple of years ago, I had to research every single hostel in the area, as well as figure out places to eat and sights to see each day.  FI is more of a fly by the seat of his pants kind of guy.  We made some compromises, and he got to see stuff he would have missed otherwise, and I found the fun in just walking around and exploring a place.  I love when things work out like that.</div>

<div>Sorry for delay.  Yeah, Crohns disease, pancrease problems (not likely).  My white blood cell came back really high (not lukenia high but enough to make him nervous)  To me that means infection or inflamation that is long standing.  I've had problems since I was 17.  I went to one doc at 18 who told me I was just fatand that if I stopped eating like a pig, I would feel better.  Literally his words.  I was so humilitated that I never told my family or friends.  So now at 30 and having insurance again, I am seeking out what is really wrong with my intestines.  </div>

Yeah Seattle is a blast. We only went for an extended weekend but I'd love to go back. Seattle is actually the only place on the west coast I've been :( I really want to see Portland and I know it's not quite the coast but Vancouver too.

Yeah, same. I'm trying to remind myself that we might never get to Hawaii again, so relaxing on the beach is a good thing. It would be a shame if I missed out on that in favor of hightailing it all over the place.

I want to go to Ireland so bad!

I'm also trying to convince N to get up here some time:
