[QUOTE]I love that she was trying to put a distinction between "the ceremony" and "the wedding"  as if they weren't the same thing!!! UGH.

That really only flies if you are French or something and they make you do a civil thing before the church thing.

I do not get why people do not want to call these vow renewals! Vow renewals are beautiful.

Agreed.  In fact tonight, my parents are attending a vow renewal for her boss and his wife.  They eloped 50 years ago today and she's throwing a huge over the top renewal for them so they can have the wedding they couldn't afford 50 years ago.

Next summer I want to throw a surprise renewal for my mom and dad, they had to cancel their 25th anniversary European cruise two years ago because of my Nana needing so much care and mom didn't want to leave her.  It's not as fabulous as a cruise to Europe, but I want to give them a big bash with all the trimmings

That is so sweet! Good to see that kind of love in some families. The OP could use a little more of that sort of regard.
  • I can't get over that she suggested FMIL "skype" in so she could be there without really having to be there. What a knob.

  • So much wrong here, so little time.  OP-you're a peach.  If you are indeed real, please listen to pp's and heed their advice.
