  • I think the dancing penguins is probably worse than the chick who posted forever ago, flipping her balls over the frosted windows at her Disney venue.

  • My little brother got arrested the night before the wedding.  My mom was freaking out and I was trying to dodge questions about where she was.  Good times.

Seriously though, dancing penguins?! It couldnt just be penguins, it had to be DANCING penguins! As ive said before, the dumbest stuff happens to me.
  • Oh and also, my family in California (grandparents, aunts and uncles) all told me while I was planning to not set our wedding date on the day of a USC game.  And also to not pick a date in January because if I picked January, they weren't coming because it would be "too cold."

On our wedding day SC played Oregon, but my Cali relatives made it, haha.  Also, it blizzarded on my November wedding day.  IN YO FACE, BEACH BUMS.

I think the only freak outs I had were related to my MIL and/or SIL. They were the cause of pretty much any drama surrounding our wedding. There were a few times when I went apeshit on H and told him he needed to deal with his family or I would and if I did, it wouldn't end well.

My biggest bridezilla moment happened when I was actually a BM in my cousin's wedding. I volunteered to make her programs and being the perfectionist that I am, I was horribly close to  a mental breakdown over fucking margin sizes. Poor H had to deal with me sobbing over how everything was ruined and how my cousin would probably never talk to me again because the programs were hideous. <<< dramatic, party of one
  • I had some rational freak-outs too.  But those don't count, right?

[QUOTE] Sixth, the rehearsal was pretty much an hour of me giving my opinions on EVERYTHING. My wonderful pastor wanted to make sure everything was exactly how I pictured it (H couldn't really care).  But I hate being all "no, I want it this way." I feel guilty. Plus people were coming up and asking me my opinion on EVERYTHING.  "Should we put this flower here or here?" "Do you want this person here or here?" "Where's this?" etc.

</div><div>Ok- I second the asking of opinions. By that time- I was like- who the fuuck cares? Just pick something and go with it. </div>
  • I didn't really have any freak-outs over wedding details, except when the venue's final invoice was off from what I calculated.  It wasn't a 'freak-out' though, I just called the coordinator and had her explain the charges, and had to negotiate a little to get it to what I thought we'd agreed on.

The only other freak-out I had was 9 days before the wedding.  I was writing out our escort cards out, waiting for H to get home from work, when I get a call from him on my cell phone, only it wasn't H, it was the fire department calling to let me know he'd wrecked his motorcycle and they were taking him to the ER in the ambulance.  Yeah....that was a freak-out, though I wouldn't exactly call it irrational.

I had a similar one, jemmini.  13 days before the wedding DH crashed his bicycle, landed on his head, and broke his helmet.  He just came in all casual and handed me the helmet pieces like it was nbd.

My rehearsal was a effing disaster. C&P from the thread a couple of days ago:

Background: I'm deaf, but I grew up strictly oral and didn't start learning ASL until I was 17 or so.  None of my family signs.  I went to Gallaudet for grad school and ASL became my primary language, though I still speak with my family and my hearing friends of course.  H is hearing but signs fluently, and we use ASL to communicate with each other.

Our officiant was the priest from Gallaudet.  The ceremony was in ASL with voice interpreters.  My mom knew this from the beginning and was ok with it.  However, she apparently failed to make the connection that ceremony in ASL also = vows in ASL.  I thought she knew this already. Apparently not.

So during the rehearsal, we got to the vow part and H and I started signing.  My mom looks shocked and blurts out "you mean I won't hear my daughter say her vows??" and starts SOBBING.

She cried the whole rest of the rehearsal and all the way to the RD.  She did tell us that she knows it's our wedding and she wanted us to do what we felt comfortable with and that she would be ok with it, but it was obvious that she was really upset.

It was a huge mess.  But my mom got over it and she was fine during the ceremony. But yeah, it was seriously NOT something I wanted to deal with the night before my wedding.

Men... H was all "were you crying?" when I came into the ER (while they are taking him off the ambulance on a gouney, hooked up to oxygen and an IV with morphine in it).  Um, no babe, I was totally not worried at all because you know, motorcycle accidents always end well....

<div>I wasn't expecting it.  He got pulled over on the way to pick up the lady that was going to take care of the horses for the weekend and he had pot and probably a bowl in his car.  He almost didn't come to the wedding, but he ended up showing up.  I would have fucking killed him if he missed it.</div>

[QUOTE]It finally happened. I had my first irrational crying session. What was it over? The cake cutter. I was looking through photos of someones wedding and saw them cutting the cake and literally started crying because I forgot we needed utensils to cut the cake! Completely ridiculous. I'm laughing at myself now. We also now have cake cutting utensils lol. Anyone else have any other ridiculous moments they'd like to share? :)

Oh crap!  I totally forgot to order my cake cutter!   thanks for the reminder.

  • I've been awful!   I want to downgrade to BSC!  My 1st big freak out was over the dress colors.  The pictures we took the day that we ordered the BM dresses showed the blue as much darker.  I thought that we had ordered the wrong colors!  My latest one, is over the church we planned to get married in.  We have to have permission to get married there and were told the process would take about 10 months.  We started this in Jan. 2011 - and we still don't have permission!  Ugh!

  • I freaked about my stupid programs.  I found this really cool shiny-and expensive-paper and did the layout myself, saved everything to a disc (this was 2001, people...) and took it to Kinko's to have them printed out.  Round 1-margins were all jacked and there were odd extraneous characters that appeared here and there.  Went in, spent an hour with Kinko's guy, corrected everything.  Had to purchase another reem of paper.  Round 2-same crap.  Repeat consultation and third reem of paper.  This process now brought me up to the day before the RD, and it still wasn't right!  I picked up the phone and WENT OFF on Kinkos!  They said they'd redo them again, and buy the paper for me,  then drop them at our place, as I had no way to get that done in the time we had left.  Day of RD, they dropped off the final order to our house, and they were much better, but still not perfect.  I lost it and bawled for about a good half hour, until finally my ex was like, 'Um, we have to go or we're going to be late to our own rehearsal!'  I pulled myself together, but was a nervous wreck all night.  It paid off though, because the next day, I very much had an 'Oh well, what happens now just happens, it's too late to change anything' attitude about the wedding, so I probably enjoyed myself much more than I would have if I hadn't gotten that out of my system.

PS:  My mother still gives me crap about the programs and said she was disappointed that they didn't look very nice and that there wasn't a tribute to the parents of the bride and groom in it.  Whatever.
