Yeah, I agree.  Coming from a state where unions destroyed things to a right to work that is prospering is an interesting transition.

Every time we try to pick one we can't decide. FILs love the shows and have been to a few. We all saw Iris for FSIL birthday. I know FFIL loved the Beatles. I think they just opened up one in Santa Monica so we might check that out since it is local.

<div>I really want to see this or O next time we're in Vegas, which will hopefully be June.  My brother is playing in the WSoP (not the main event, one of the side games) and I want to go watch him/play in Vegas. </div><div>
</div><div>But question: is there any talking during the show?  Last time we were there we saw Cris Angel's Believe, and I called to ask if they could get an interpreter or captions for me.  They told me that I wouldn't need it because there wasn't any speaking in the show.  Yeah, almost the entire show involved talking.  I was pissed. </div>

Yeah, we saw KA because it was right there at MGM, so I can see it would be hard to pick. From what I understand KA has more of a story behind it.

I do want to see O too.

Thanks Koda.  It's nothing I can't eventually resolve, but it sure is a pain to deal with in the meantime.

H just called me, too.  He had his new hire orientation today, and -- after taking an unexcused absence from school to do it, including a zero on his first English quiz of the semester... -- found out that his employer can't <em>actually</em> accommodate his class schedule during training, like he was promised.  Ugh.  Unless his new manager can pull a miracle out of his hat, I guess it's back to job hunting again.  Lame.

That is so frustrating. I often wish employers had a little more empathy for the lives of their potential employees but I realize I might be too idealistic ;)

I had an amazing day teaching. I dealt with potentially a bad situation-a student started crying because she couldn't think of a topic for her paper so I talked with her and encouraged her. My supervisor came and watched me and said I've developed a 'teacher face' that gives me credibility, so that was nice!

<div>I will definitely try to see it! Whether or not I can even go in June depends on how soon I end up finding a job, so we'll see.  And yeah, I definitely complained.  They apologized and said that the person who told me that must have confused it with a Cirque Du Soiel show because MOST of them don't have talking.  Yeah, whatever.  I asked for my money back but they wouldn't give it to me. H had to interpret the important parts of the show for me, which meant that he couldn't fully enjoy it himself either. </div>

I agree, Ka is amazing! The shadowplay scene and the scene with the starfish and sea turtle were my favorites. And the 'machine' with the spinning wheels blew my mind. I bought the show program and DVD, I enjoyed it that much.

I really want to see Zumanity, too. While I was in Vegas, I even bought a Zumanity burlesque mask that I used in my Halloween pinup photo shoot in October.

  • Kd, beware: the DVD isn't of the show itself, it's a behind-the-scenes featurette. It's still great to see how they orchestrate everything and get to know the cast. These are some of the hardest working people on the planet. They work 6 nights a week, sometimes 2 shows per night, many of them without understudies.

  • The guy who plays the main guy's son (the one who creates the machine) was actually afraid of the vertical stage and pullies. It took him a long time to get over his fear in order to perform, but he did it. There are other surprises but I don't wanna ruin it for you.

I read something borrowed on saturday and started something blue yesterday (will finish it tonight). They arent like, masterpieces, but theyre quick reads and fairly entertaining.
  • It took me awhile to get into Dragon Tattoo. I seriously cannot get into Game of Thrones. It's interesting but I really just don't want to read it? It's weird, I don't understand my feelings about it!
