  • Happy to help. Also, McSorley's is a def fun stop if you like beer. Go in the day b/c the night is super packed. Julz always has good recs too.

I also forgot to mention (you said your hubby liked food) is Katz (LES). It's popular but still delish and close to the New Museum and my two favorite cupcakes places: Sugar Sweet Sunshine and Butterlane. Other favorites nearby include Porchetta and Caracas for arepas.

    Have fun!

  • If you like Mac and Cheese you can check out SMAC- it's friggin delicious!

This is an afforable (fairly) hotel:

or just try expedia (or similar sites), anywhere in Midtown is great!

As for museums, my fave is the Met. You could walk up from in front of the plaza hotel- there is always a lot of 'stuff' going on out there- including things in front of the apple store and FAO.

As for taking subways- make sure to check the MTA website for weekend closures before you plan, or just check hopstop.com.
  • Don't forget the carriage ride through Central Park!

  • When are you going?  You could go ice skating in central park. Central park zoo.  Get tickets to the New York philharmonic - one of my favorite things. If you are going around the holidays, they have Handel's Messiah - you can't get any better for the holidays.   Definitely broadway - we recently went to Rock of Ages and it was awesome.  I second Katz for food.  Hit up a knicks or Rangers game. Top of the Rock is still cool, especially if you have never been and is romantic at night.  I am a huge fan of the Circle Line and bring everyone that comes to visit me, but I have never been in the winter.  Out of Cheslea Piers, they also have great dinner cruises that take you around the island, statute of liberty.  My Dad and I did this once and had a great time.  It would only be a short taxi froma midtown hotel.
