Snarky Brides

FFS

Bridesmaidzilla is afraid people are going to leave her reception early.  Undecided

I just got a FB PM asking if Wes and I will be able to "stay late and party" with them.  I wanted to be like, oh, you mean sit in a corner and sulk for 4 hours like you did at my reception?  If so, then yes, I'm pretty sure I can do that.

Re: FFS

  • I love sulking. It's my favourite past time. I am a master sulker.
  • Ask if there will an open bar and THEN respond accordingly.

I thought about it, but instead I said "Wes and I are already working out our drinking schedule for the day so that one of us will be sober for the drive home!" hoping that if it wasn't open bar, that would open up the forum for her to say so.  She didn't, so I can only assume. . .

Is it because she knows everyone thinks she sucks?

I'd get a piece of cake wrapped in a napkin and waltz out the door. Unless there's free booze, then one of us would drink A LOT.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Hahaha AAB- I didn't even think of it through her perspective!

  • You should tell her that if it's a fun reception people won;t leave early.  That has the added benefit of you not having to answer the question later when people do leave early :)

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • What constitues leaving early? I don't stay longer than 2 or 3 hours at a reception. I get bored and would rather be at home, no matter how entertaining the reception may be.
  • I like b's answer.  It's a very true fact as well.

IDK, if she had any self-awareness whatsoever, she wouldn't have even asked, because a ton of people left my reception as soon as they finished eating.  I wasn't butthurt about it though.  I just thought I was a strange person to ask.

I can't remember if I posted this, but she PMed me a few weeks ago to ask if I got a hotel room from her block. I was so sure it was somehow a loaded question.
  • I would imagine lots of people will leave ours too.

I mean, a lot of people are old farmer people and then there's some friends of my parents that are from out of town who probably won't stay.  I have lots of small cousins so they and their parents probably won't stay.

I wouldn't mind of any of those people left early.

The only people I expect to stay are a few of my parents friends and Ben's parents friends who like to drink and dance a lot, and then of course our friends, and most of our bridal party.  I mean, who gives a rip if Old Aunt Myrtle doesn't want to stay til 1am.

Same here. Our reception was about 5 hours and I think we had 80% of the guests remaining but doing that "mill about because I want to leave" thing and it worked out perfectly. I'm sorry but if I have more than a 1 hour drive I'm going to leave by 9 at the latest, you know?
  • Yeah plenty of people left ours early, some right after we ate. A few had to work, some had a long drive home, one couple was really old and couldn't be out long. But it was also the middle of the day, so we didn't expect people to stay all night.

It ended up being family and close friends, and was perfect.

Psh. That's crazy. You'd smush the cake and the frosting would stick to the napkin. Just take the top layer. With the bride and groom topper. Also, be sure to bring a big gulp cup in with you. Keep pouring glasses of wine into the big gulp cup. Slurp loudly.

This reminds me, by commenting on booze, I blew my cover for announcing my pregnancy during the toasts.  Poo.

  • Oh yeah!  You are right.  It was totally a surprise and we just found out this morning!  Dude, I should so bring a positive pregnancy test to the reception.
  • You can claim that you POAS at the reception too!

  • Love it.  I could find someone at the reception who is actually pregnant and have them POAS.
  • You guys are so smart. I want to see you come out of the bathroom, go straight to the DJ's microwave and announce your pregnancy with a big gulp of wine in one hand and a positive preg test in the other. Arrange for another friend to follow the announcement with a toast.

  • Yeah!  You know how some say "drink till it's pink", you could say that you thought that meant pink drinks are ok, so have some Rose.

  • Oh you crazy drunk pregnant person you!

I think what would work well (say that three times fast!) is to get really really drunk, then have your husband go "Oh honey, don't you think you should quit drinking?" and when they ask why go "Oh! I'm pregnant!" really really loudly.
  • Make sure you are sloppy drunk when you announce it, waving the test and a cigarette above your head, rock star style. :)

  • Arms up, always!!!
