I'm ashamed to say we have one near us and I kind of want to go.  We have NO restaurants with a salad bar in our town other than Golden Corral.  It's really sad.  I just want a Souper Salad or Soup Plantation or Sweet Tomatoes or something!

My Denver Aunt is the shiznit.  She really helped all while I was growing up.  My mom's the oldest, this cousin's mom is the middle, and Denver Aunt is the youngest. She's 13 years older than me and more like an older sister.  She's a trip.  We went to Germany together in 2004 and had a blast.  The great aunt helped raise my mom and her sisters.  Their mom died when my mom was 14 and Denver Aunt was 7.  She's very much old school, etiquette.  She actually sent me a thank you note after the wedding, thanking me for inviting her and allowing her to spend time with "her girls" at the rehersal dinner and the wedding/reception.  It was very sweet.

We got a golden corral about a year ago and we have gone several times.  My Dad used to take me to one by his house when I was a kid though, so I have always had good memories there.

I will never even consider using that chocolate fountain though.  Kids run up and just put their fingers in it, then in their mouthes, then back in the chocolate. ::shudder::

Did you see Golden Corral is now serving cotton candy?  I so don't get it. 

BK - well, here's hoping the BP isn't all still hammered from the night before and the bride doesn't do a "Knockers up!" shimmy before she walks down the aisle.  The pearl clutching side will not deal with that well.

All I really have to add is that I really want a KFC biscuit now.

Also, I've been to a wedding reception that was "catered" by KFC. I was also the only person including the bride, groom and officiate, that was not in jeans.

From your keyboard to God's ears.   Yeah, my cousin is all disappointed that we won't be there in time for the bachelor and bachelorette party.  Like H wants to hang with a bunch of drunk kids younger than his son, that he doesn't know.  And like I want to hang with a bunch of kids 15 years younger than me, that I don't know.  Bummer.

Now I want some cotton candy. But not from golden corral or whatever. We live close to an OCB and you can trust I will never step a foot inside there.

BK- bring yourself some type of personal fan for saturday for being outside- my understanding is it is about to get super hot and humid here.

I haven't been to the ceremony site, but it does look nice!

I was once in<strong> </strong>a wedding that was "catered" by Little Ceasar's. Not even kidding. I had no idea about the pizza until we got to the reception hall. Everything else about the wedding was of the norm but pizza for the dinner? Little Ceasar's to boot!

Nothing like chomping down pizza in a BM dress.

Oh they also had ranch for the pizza...salad was nowhere in sight.

ket, Little Caesars is one of those weird things that tastes amazing to me now that I'm pregnant. I could eat an entire pack of their breadsticks! It's so cheap and tasty! I think the only thing I'd be ok serving that at, would be a kid b-day party. A whole pizza is only $5, it says so on the box, everyone will know that you totally cheaped out.

dmiller, to give you a better visual this was a reception with about 100 guests. You can imagine how many $5 pizzas were delivered to that reception hall.

Oh we also ate off paper plates.

[QUOTE]KD- Her dad's been gone for 13 years (cancer).  But her mom, as well as her dad's family are white trash.  My aunt used to be so clever and amazing.  When she was broke, back in the days of VCRs, she taped Yankee Doodle Dandy, The Sting and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes for us.  She sat there and manually stopped and started the recording to not get the commercials from the TV.  She then sent it to us with a box of candy and some "trash" to throw on the floor so we could have an "authentic movie theatre experience."  She wrote a great blurb about each movie.  When I graduated HS (a lifetime ago), she got me a booklight that was a pane of glass that had a light that shone through it that you laid on top of the book.  It came in so handy.  She's not like that anymore.  It's like all the fun and cleverness has gotten sucked out of her.  It makes me kind of sad.

I wonder if your cousin knows my co-worker. We were invited to a wedding at their church, followed (2 hours later) by a picnic on the church lawn and we were asked to bring lawn chairs and a board/lawn game to play.
The registry information was included in the invitation, along with the line "money is welcome".

I'm completely looking forward to figuring out what to do for the hour between ceremony and reception when the reception is only 15 feet away and the opposite of the ceremony.

As for your dilemma, I don't know if I would bring food to the actual site, but I may stash some in my car. Or I would make plans to grab something to eat afterwards. I have no words for the RD. That is completely beyond anything I can comprehend at the moment.
