Hey, everyone.
I know when I asked for book recommendations a while back someone suggested "The Devil in the White City" by Eric Larson. It's on my "to read" list, but I was just wondering who has read it and if you could share any thoughts or opinions? My next book is either that or "The Hunger Games" and I have to be kinda picky because I don't have much time to read. /: TIA and have a great day.
Re: Books
The Hunger Games will suck you in and be an incredibly fast read. I enjoyed the first book (but disliked the second and hated the third). If you read the first one, you're going to want to read the next two. Think about that.
I really liked Devil in the White City. It moves a little slowly, but it's richly historical and full of interesting facts about late 19th century US and Chicago in particular. Holmes is a crazy cat and his parts of the story move far more quickly and are more interesting. I found myself being a little bored when they moved back to fair, except for the part when they built the Ferris Wheel. Awesome!!
What are you more in the mood for? Fast paced, easy read or more intellectual and a learning read?
Good luck!
