Snarky Brides

Good Morning

Good Morning.  Big plans today?

It's my Granny's 87th birthday, so I'm taking her out later.  I also have a breakfast date I'm really looking forward to.

Good morning! I got up early because I want to go to the market, then we are heading to the candle supply store (its like 45 minutes away!) and we will most likely do some exploring down there and then I Want to do regular groceries. Busy morning!

I hope you have a good day Pirate :) It sounds fun.
  • Morning Ladies!

So glad I waited to start a morning thread. I'm up, was up at 5:30 with the pup. Got him to eat and go back to sleep for a bit at least. Now he's just being a PITA. Monday can NOT come soon enough!

How are you Pirate? And happy B-day grandma!

  • Thanks, Nebb!  I hope you have a great day too!  Yours sounds busy and fun!

I'm doing well, KD, thanks :)

This lady is my great-grandmother, and she's awesome, I want to be like her when I grow up.

  • Morning!  We're up earlier than desired because the DirecTV guy is supposed to be here between 8-12.  We're taking bets.  Tonight we're going out to dinner for our anniversary, which is Monday already (holy crap!!)  In between we'll probably try to get some more unpacking done, and I need to do laundry and grocery shop.

  • How's the house, J?

I cant believe it's been a year already, since it seemed like it took forever for you to get married.

I need to get to Michaels today to get a shadowbox for H's bday present. And I need to go to Walgreens I'm exciting!

  • Dude, Kd, it DID take forever for us to get married.  We were engaged for two and a half years, haha.

Pirate, it's good!  Still a disaster area, but we're getting there slowly :)

  • Our house still feels like a disaster area, and we moved in 9 months ago.  It's a process.
  • We've lived here for 7 years and it's still a disaster area, never ending project ladies! ;)

We're going to get brunch and watch the Kinetic Sculpture Race with friends soon. They're these crazy manpowered artpieces/amphibious vehicles that have to do a variety of obstacles including a mud pit. We'll be watching the entries parade by  where we're eating and then after we'll go watching them attempt to float. It should be fun.

Here's a picture of the winner from last year.

  • Hi ladies.  Pirate, you grandma sound fun, enjoy your outing with her later.

Nebb, I love making candle, I haven't done that in forever.  What kind are you making?

We have a do nothing weekend, a rare occurance in this household.  Probably the last before the downward slide to the big day!
  • Good morning!

We're going to try to get some errands done this morning and then FI has this plan to make mint juleps? which is apparently some big Kentucky Derby drink involving bourbon. I don't even like mojitos so I'm probably going to try one and then dodge them the rest of the day. Not sure where we will end up but the plan is to party.

    Congrats to Pirate's great-grandmother!

Congrats to J on 1 year!

I wish people would post house pictures like they post wedding pictures. I have major house envy.

Weve had basement renovations going on since December, and everything that WAS in the basement has taken up residence in the rest of the house. There are boxes, containers, "things" everywhere and I cant figure out a way to straighten up because there is no way to do it without moving everything around and its driving me absolutely batty. Our dining room table now houses our "pantry" because we used to keep a lot of food on shelves in the basement and there is no where else to go. Its the suck.

    Celtic, that sounds interesting!

  • Nebb, that would make me crazy too.  The kitchen was the absolute first thing I unpacked because I can't stand to not know where my kitchen stuff is or have it all over, so just the "pantry" on the table would be enough to drive me batty :(  Is there an end in sight?

acaponi, thanks!  You need a nickname.  Your name is too long, and I'm lazy.

  • JK, we had Direct tv installed about a month ago and surprisingly enough they came early in the time slot and were only here about an hour (when we had dish network, they were here five hours). Have a great day with your grandmother, pirate! I have a hair appointment then H and I are getting all of our gift shopping done. We have six immediate family birthdays and two graduations this month. Plus H, who has now played golf for all of a week, got himself roped into filling in for his boss in a tournament... NEXT WEEK. So, we've got to go get everything he needs today. He may not play well, but the man will at least look the part. We're also going to see The Avengers this afternoon. Have a great day ladies!

soy candles. I have all sorts of 4oz canning jars, just little things, and I never used them for what I originally intended (I was going to make sauces and flavoured butters for christmas gifts and ran out of motivation) so I decided to make them into candles!

Sorta. Its gone from a disgusting unfinished (hadnt been touched since it was built in the 40s) basement, became the mike holmes basement when they first got started and found a shitton of issues, and now there are walls, drywall, lights. There is some repairs he has to do to the cement floor (long story) and then has to frame in the bulk head stuff, put up doors, put up cabinetry in the laundry room and bathroom, tile and install the bathroom, put down the flooring, and just do finishing touches. He was off sick all week (he has 4 or 5 kids and he is ALWAYS sick lol) so I think its going to be another 2 months or so.
  • Very cool, Nebb, hmmmm we will have about 70 assorted size mason jars after the wedding.  You give me ideas.   Thanks

  • Morning y'all! I just put the toodlebug down for his first nap and I'm about to jump in the shower. We have no food besides salad, so I need to get to the store today. And I have to remember to stock up on stuff for our trip because we leave Friday morning.

We have swimming lessons this morning and then we will probably go shopping a bit. We will be in NO for a week and I have no casual clothes that fit beyond athletic gear. I need some nicer tshirts and shorts for sightseeing and walking around. I went to Nordstrom Rack yesterday and found a couple cute dresses. I love that store!

And hearing y'all stuggle with house stuff is just exactly why I don't want to own our next place.

Sorry Jes, it's the price of being a homeowner! There will always be that ONE last thing you need to do. By the you get done, you'll be ready to paint the kitchen a different color and so the cycle begins again!

I will post pics, I am probably going to do them either tomorrow or some day this week, since its EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK!! best week ever.

Thanks J :) its a mixed bag, we really REALLY like the contractor and its nice having him around during the day with my mom. I get home from work sometimes and find them hanging out outside smoking and laughing about things. I think she is going to miss having him around.
