I got a new nailpolish lastnight, its essie luxeffects set in stone, and it looks so nice. I used a pale polish as a base and put this ontop and it look like freaking little diamonds all over my nails.

Aw, poor guy :(  But I can imagine the pup sitting there staring up with his head cocked to the side like "wtf??"

She's weird twitchy today.  Normally she runs away when she's twitchy, but today she comes to cuddle.  Poor thing.  We're probably going to end up taking her to the feline neurologist (seriously? WHAT.THE.FUUCK) soon.

  • Morning everyone!

KD, I've been up since 5 too. I feel your pain.
Nebby, I can't wait to see your candles! and steal your plans, so make sure you tell me how you did it ;)

Today is errands day. I want to go spend a ridiculous amount of money at Home Depot, Costco, and Target. Well, I don't want to spend the money, but I want to buy a bunch of stuff ;) If I have any energy left, we might hit up IKEA too and finally buy those dressers. Except the one box is 74" long, which means we'll have to pay for delivery. bah.

She has to be fully evaluated before they can do anything, which our normal vet can't do.  The closest one with all the stuff is up at the U of M.  But all they'd probably end up doing is giving her psych meds (usually an anti-anxiety med or anti-seizure med), so it's possible that we might be able to get them to try that without doing tons of expensive tests.  Our vet isn't comfortable enough with the disorder to prescribe anything though.

  • I've heard so many good things about the U of M Vet school. The *only* negative I've heard is that it's pricey ;) But apparently it's not even that bad. Some people use that as their regular vet too, which I imagine is ridiculous.  But I know it's where all vets in the area refer people when they have pets with cancer/diseases/etc.

    Poor box kitty.

  • That's good to hear, Steph.  The only reason we've been avoiding it is because we'd rather not have our cat on psych meds if she doesn't need it...  We'll wait it out for a while still and see if it gets better as she adjusts more to the new house, but it's good to know that the U has a good rep if it comes down to it.

  • nych, sorry to hear that Crystal needed to be put down.  I irrationally worry about that with Helmut.  He is a super sweet dog and companion.  My kids brought him home to me when they were leaving for college because they didn't want me to be lonely.

J&K, sorry about box kitty, hopefully she will adjust to her new home soon.
  • Morning. I have a raging headache. I think I need to watch Drive again today because all I remember is mooning over Ryan gosling's sexy face. I don't even remember how it ended.

Happy birthday, pirate's grandma! My grandma's birthday is tomorrow, the big 75. I was thinking about heading out to the store today to get Mom's mother's day gift, and then to maybbe the bookstore, but I don't feel like it. This is my only day off in a long time, both from work and class, and will  be my only day off for awhile due to book stuff.

Happy birthday to Pirate's great grandma!

J&K I hope box kitty calms down. How is she adjusting to the new house?

We went and saw The Avengers last night.  A local theatre got these new captioning glasses that will work with any movie at any time.  So I don't have to wait for open captioned showings anymore, I can go to the movies whenever I want to!! This may seem like a really lame thing to be excited about, but I'm stoked.  And the manager was super nice.  He helped me figure out how to get the captioning glasses to work along with the 3D glasses so that we could watch it in 3D.  He ended up taking the lenses out of a pair of 3D glasses and taping them to the front of the captioning glasses.  It worked pretty well!

  • That's awesome, LP!

She seemed to be adjusting fine, until last night when she started getting all super twitchy :(  She loves all the windows and the two sets of stairs though (she loves stairs).

Ok, our DirecTV tech is having a phone conversation with someone (on speakerphone) while installing our dish.  (it's not work related, either) Am I unreasonable in thinking that I don't think he should be having personal conversations while, you know, climbing around on our roof and shiit?

That's good that she likes the house, J! Hopefully the twitchiness will die down soon.  Poor box kitty.

I think awhile ago I remember you talking about possibly getting a dog, but were worried about how box kitty would react.  Did you decide what to do?  Or am I totally confusing you with someone else? haha.
    image
  • Nope, that was us!  We're going to wait until she's calmed down after we get home from our vacation in August (us being gone for a week is super stressful to her), so probably this fall sometime, and then we're going to check around with some rescues and shelters and see if someone has a dog that they think will be a good fit (male, older but not eldery, calm, not a kitty chaser) and give it a try.  Our vet seems to think it could be really helpful to her if we get the right dog, and we really want one, so we'll try it, but if it doesn't work out, then we'll just wait and let Box Kitty be an only pet for as long as she needs to be.

That sounds like the best possible plan.  Hopefully you can find a dog that she gets along with so she can have a companion. I really think in most cases, it helps animals to have one. I'm worried that when we finally buy a house and move out of here, Lucy will be lonely without Riley (my parents dog). But that just means that I'l have to convince H to get another dog ;)

Morning! We have a full day working on the house (laying subfloor, building walls, all sorts of fun stuff) and cleaning up the yard. I am just waiting for H to wake up.

J, we are doing the opposite. We have a crazy dog and are thinking of getting a cat. The cat would be an outdoor cat but our dog is a cat chaser so we aren't too sure how to go about it yet. We think it would help calm down our dog if he had other animal friends to hang out with.
