Awful IRL Names

Re: Awful IRL Names

  • I worked with a Terri Terry, and it was her married name. Of all the reasons to hyphenate or keep your maiden name, hers is at the top of the list.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Awful IRL Names : It sounds like "Donner" one of Santa's reindeer when the full name is said. He hated "Donald", too, because of Donald Duck. Poor guy.

duh. Sorry, I'm on a little bit of a mental/reading vacation today apparently.
  • I knew a John Johnson V ... as in that name got passed down 4 times prior to him, and apparently when it was his turn, his parents just felt awful "breaking the cycle".

But apparently, it's a super common name. When he applied for a loan, he told me he had to sign thousands of different judgements stating "No, I'm not this John Johnson who comitted grand theft auto", "I'm not this John Johnson who didn't pay taxes for the last 15 years", "I'm not this John Johnson who has 7 other lines of credit taken out against his home".

I'm baffled that there are so many John Johnsons.

Yeah, I worked with a girl whose married name was Denise Knies (Kneis rhymes with Denise and the "k" is pronounced).  We joked that she'd name her kids Maurice, Bernice, and Patrice.

I've known folks with the last names Butt and Nipple.  Nipple eventually changed it to "Niles."  As far as I know, neither family had gone with the first name "Harry."
  • I dated a guy with the last name Dyke. We got pretty serious and I always thought "I will NEVER change my last name".

My mom went to school with someone who's first name was Satin. She married Bob Sheets.

I went to school with a Sherri Butt.

My cousin's wife is naming their soon-to-be-born son Jameson. In some cases, this would be okay, but she looks like Michelle "Bombshell" McGee ('member Jesse James' mistress?), covered in tattoos, four-colored hair, former nude model, total bar skank. I'm pretty sure she was just cleaning the liquor cabinet and it was easy. And not as obvious as Jack Daniel.

Plus, she keeps "welcoming" her child to the world on FB, and she keeps changing the spelling in her updates. Classy.
  • LC, I knew a Crystal Bump as well, just spelled differently.

The girlfriend of one of our groomsmen has the last name Faghihifar.  I asked DH for her last name when doing our invites and I really thought he just made it up randomly.  I feel weird saying it out loud (and even typing it), like I just insulted someone when I didn't mean to.

A high school friend's married name is Ashley Ashley.

I wouldn't change my last name if it would then match my first.
  • Not really a "bad" name, but DH used to work with a woman whose last name was "Smyth", and she married a guy who's last name was "Smith" (Pronounced the same way). For the longest time, she didn't want to legally change her name, because it made such a minimal difference ... she finally broke down and did it though, because too many people thought she was an idiot that couldn't spell her own last name whenever she filled out paperwork with her and her husband's name on it.

  • The last names like Dic, Boner, Moorehead always make me wonder how they came about.  Like smith=blacksmith, King=descendant of the king.

  • There was an optometrist in the town I used to live in named Richard Weiner.  He goes by D!ck.  No joke.

the rumor is, though I'm not sure whether or not it's true, that his middle name is Peter.

  • There are a few car dealerships in the DFW area that are owned by David McDavid.  His commercials are actually quite catchy.

  • My mom had a classmate named Gay Ann Butts. She also once had a student named Harry Moron. She asked him, "Is it pronounced Mah-rone?" "Nope, it's Mo-ron."

There was a whole family of Hoars at my own school.

    hahahahaha.

I feel sorry for people whose names suddenly morph into something bad.  I mean, "Diick" wasn't always a giggle-inducer, and I know a woman whose name is Barbie Doll who was born, raised, and called "Barbie" well before the toy came into existence.
  • I went to school with a brother and sister with the last name of Hoer (it is pronounced Her).  Also went to school with a guy named William Robert Lee, he was always called Billy Bob.  Andplusalso, there is a car dealership in the next town over that is owned by Richard Head, he goes by Diick.
1st pic of us together. Apparently I thought something was funny.

  • My sister's coach was named Diick Baggy.

My neice is named Paige Forte. Yes, the pronounce their last name like the number.
Their first two kids are Lindsey and Drew. Their family sentence is, "Lindsey drew on paige forte." They think this is hilarious.

I worked with a woman named Susan Stephanok. She married a guy named Jorge Susan. Yeaah, she took his name.

  • I threw shotput in HS with a girl named Flame, and another one named Princess. Flame was strikingly beautiful and I am pretty sure she is not a stripper. If I had to guess, she's probably a high-powered attorney now, and no one forgets her name.
