At least neither of the Manning brothers left their pregnant girlfriend for another women & then knock her up like Brady did...

Peyton Manning is one of the most respected players in the NFL, by all.

I have always thought that what they do in their personal lives is irrelevant to th sport.  Especially considering all of the convicted felons that are allowed to play.  People who beat their wives, kill people, sell drugs, gun charges, dog fighting, etc.

I hardly think him breaking up with his gf (who found out she was pregnant after they broke up) is a reason to hate the whole team.

Instead, do it because you really care about the message. I feel like that ad during the Superbowl was only given airtime because he was in it. It's fine that they want to air the ad, but come on, use real, down to earth people.

I agree. I really liked him at first but then was totally turned off by all the religious crap. I think his family does a lot of good, but at the same time I don't want to hear about it just because he's famous.

I just want to see how he plays with the big boys, and against the team he was originally talking about signing with (rumor has it, anyway).

  • I'm not a football fan in general but I really like Peyton Manning.  His commercials crack me up and he just seems like a really honest, good guy.  If kids are going to look to professional athletes as role models, I wish they would look up to him and not the guys that are always in legal trouble.

I feel this way about several NFL players. There are lots of great role models within the NFL, unfortunately, as with all other public aspects, the bad ones are in the media. There hasn't been nearly as much about Doug Flutie's good deeds or the players that helped clean up NOLA after the hurricane or Peyton's Peyback foundation. But Vick has been everywhere in the news for all his bad.
  • I'll root for a team that has Peyton Manning on it over a team that would allow Michael Vick back into the NFL anyday.

I'm probably more a Panthers fan, but I don't have a serious investment in any team anymore. It used to be the Dolphins, when I knew several players and coaches. but they're gone now.

I am a Panthers fan (Scott interned there for 2 seasons) and a Chiefs fan (hometown), and I am so freaking pumped for football season!! I was just finishing up setting up my Fantasty Football league today. Anyone else play?

College teams are my alma mater, Kansas State, Scott's alma mater, University of Kansas, and Alabama. I HATE Missouri. Scott works for a college team here so I go to all those home games and bowl games. I bought a new tailgating purse and shirt and my new tailgating shoes are being delivered today, YESSSS.

So yeah, I'm a football fan.

  • I like Peyton, but Eli just rubs me the wrong way. I'm not sure why.

I was a big Packers fan for a long time. Then they started letting good people go, Reggie White left, Chmura got caught in a hot tub with teenage girls.. the coach left for Seattle. It all went downhill from there, so I jumped ship before Farve retired the first time. I used to be a fan, but now I'm just tired of him.

  • I am a big baseball fan more than anything. As far football goes FI and I like to watch it. We don't have a favorite team but that could be because we have none in our hometown. We like college football as well. We are USC fans. I know a lot of ppl don't care for them but that's our college team.

My family is USC fans too - I don't follow it much, but my uncle played on the team in the 80s.  He's got his Rose Bowl ring that he still wears.  They all think it's a pretty big effin' deal.  Haha, and they are not impressed with Reggie Bush either.

  • I'm so excited.  Football is literally the only sport I like to watch.  I'm a big ASU fan (being my alma mater and all), even though they haven't been doing to well lately, I'm not a fair weather fan.  LOL.  Surprisingly, I don't really have a favorite pro team, but for sake of arguement, we'll say Cardinals just cuz they are the hometown team.  (boss also has great season tix on the 50YL, so I might get to go to a few games...)

I love football.  My biz partner and I have season tickets to the USF Bulls since we both graduated from there.  My FI got her undergrad from FSU and MD from USF so she's split and supports both unless they're playing each other (we won last time, only time they've played).  The TB Bucs suck, I had season tickets for them up until they won the superbowl at which point I cashed out knowing full well they would not repeat.  That makes me a fair weather fan I guess, but I look at it as I'm paying for entertainment and the Bucs sucking every season since the superbowl has not been very entertaining in my mind.

Two teams I dislike are UF and Miami.  The only reason I dislike UF is because a good 75% of the people I run into that are 'rabid' Gator fans have no association with UF whatsoever, they're band wagoners who like the team because they've won the championship a few times.  People who like UF and have some relation to the school I have no problem with.  The reason I dislike Miami is because they have a lot of fans who are intentionally obnoxious assholes simply because Miami, aka "da U" for people who can't speak correctly, has that reputation and they want to perpetuate it for some reason.

I have to say two teams I don't care about one way or another but would like to compliment are Clemson and Georgia Tech fans.  We hosted a bowl game between the two here in Tampa I think last year and both teams fans were incredibly nice to the locals as well as to each other.  Clemson obviously is the better travelled team as they outnumbered tech fans probably 3 to 1, but they really were incredibly nice and fun to hang out with at all the local sports bars FI and I go to during football season.

  • I love the NFL and I'm so excited it's finally back in season. I'm not a fan at all of NCAA football, in fact I actually hate it. DH thinks is strange I can be so oppositely passionate about the same game. I'm a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills which unfortunately has brought me nothing but heartbreak and after watching the preseason opener, I don't see that changing anytime in the near or even distant future (although on opening day I'll lapse back into disillusionment for a few months and think this is the season we'll win the superbowl). I'm not a fan of the Miami Dolphins because they are a huge rival. I also know I dislike the NY Giants, the Washington Redskins, and the Dallas Cowboys but I have selective amnesia about why I dislike them so much.

FI and I had season tickets the last 2 years. I think we might get them again this year but I have to check out our finances. The whole Reggie Bush thing made me very mad. I am mad at him not NCAA. I really wish he would take some of his millions and replace the scholarships we are having taken away. I know it won't make a difference in all the other sanctions but at least he could do something to help those that have no other way of attending college because athletic scholarship.
