Re: Saturday!

  • Lol I dont even care if she says things about me, I didnt make all that food, I repinned it from other people so we must all be fatties based on her logic. It sorta just reinforces her crazy though which is amusing to me.

  • Holy wack job.  She is cuckoo!
  • FOAD - fuuck off and die.
  • okay, this is completely off topic but I have decided that one of my TK pet peeves is when people say that 'it is totally possible to throw the wedding of your dreams in 3/6/9 months"...is it possible? Sure. Are you likely to find the venue/photographer/etc... that you really want to use? Not where I live, that's for sure...a lot of the places that we looked at were booked well over a year out...I mean I get that you can still get married but your options will be limited, especially the shorter the timeline...I guess I just hate that 'well others have done it' line...

    okay /random rant.
  • Ok, I want Mara's mashed potato recipe.

Everyone and everywhere we used for ours was available for the day we wanted, and in the case of our venue it was the first place we looked at and just knew we wanted to do it there. Less than 7 months!

Edit: I dont know if I would say it was the "wedding of my dreams" but ive never thought much about what I wanted. It was perfect for us and we loved it, so I guess thats enough.

<div>What month did you get married? </div><div>
</div><div>We were engaged in October and were looking for the following October...I would have done summer but nothing was available AND even half the places/photographers I looked into were also booked for October.  </div><div>
</div><div>Again, I am not saying it doesn't/can't happen, I am just saying it isn't always as easy as it was for you, I just hate that it's one of the TK 'lines'. </div>
  • We got engaged December 5th, didnt start planning until January and got married in July.

I think it's perfectly possible and I think quite a few people have done it. They may have to change their idea of what their "perfect" is though.

  • Oh, and the venue I really wanted was booked through until April 2011 (we ended up being married in October 2010)...and it was booked every single Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.  I am happy with where we ended up with, it was great, but I couldn't believe how booked up the one I wanted was.

<div>Yes, which is why I said it was 'possible' but not necessarly easy...and for some people its a numbers thing (not with us) but if you want to have a 200 person wedding and you live in a smaller town where there are only one or two venues that fit that many people then it could be an issue. And yes, you could cut your guest list...I get that it isn't impossible, I just hate it when a bride says that it isn't possible in her case and people are all like "lots of people here have done it"...yes, they have, because they could/chose to...but that isn't always the case. I get that some times people are justing being all PPD about stuff, sometimes they aren't though.</div>

I wonder sometimes if this has more to do with the parents as well.

  • We didn't book any venues/vendors until March-May, but we got married on a Sunday in November.  Everyone we wanted was available though, without any issues at all.

I know quite a few people who got married in the summer and didn't start planning until Spring.  It's entirely possible.  Quite honestly, I would rather have planned a wedding in 3 months than have a 10 month engagement.
  • I just made a killing at kohls! $400 worth of baby clothes for next winter for $60.
  • KW- They were instant potatoes, with milk, butter, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, fiesta ranch seasoning and bacon bits. Sinful.
