Re: Fingernails

My nails are not very strong - they are flexible, actually. They've always been that way. I sort of rip them/bite them off when they get too long. I usually keep them au naturale, too.

Not sure about the wedding. Acrylics would be nice, but I've never gotten them, so I think they would feel weird. I used to get those press on nails when I was in middle school, but they would tear up my nails something awful. I'm afraid acrylics would damage them, too. And thus starts a vicious cycle.

  • I was blessed with really nice nails. They're really strong and have nice white tips. I've had lots of people ask if my nails are real or fake. I go back and forth. Sometimes I like them longer and just a clear polish. Other times, I'll cut them really short and put on some pink or red polish.
  • Hm, not alot of enthusiasm for acrylic nails.  I don't want to be in pain on my trip to Mexico or at my wedding.  Maybe I'll re-think.  Thanks for the input, night sprite.  I guess that's something to try way in advance.
  • Yeah, Jackie, I wouldn't do it. They are AWFUL for your nailbeds. Why sacrifice healthy nails for one day? I say keep them short and polish them a neutral or clear and you'll be fine.

I always wonder if we'll look back on wedding ring pics and laugh at the trendy french maicure fake nails the way we look at big puffy dress sleeves now.

  • I hate the look of fake nails so much. My nails can grow well but I like to have the tiniest white line possible at the end. I'm a cashier, have two dogs, a cow, and like to do things myself so long nails are not really an option for me. The feeling of them is weird too, especially when they get bent backwards. UGH! haha.

FMIL is pushing me to get fakes or grow them out for the wedding for pictures. I dont like my hands so we probably won't even do that kind of picture!
