We give Sadie a treat every time she goes outside and uses the bathroom. At night if FI takes her out and I'm laying in bed she will jump in with me and expects him to bring her a treat while she is on her pillow. He always does though.

Most of the time, he is sorely disappointed but he'll wait on the bed for awhile before giving up. He's also really, really loud now that he's deaf. H and I were at my event last Saturday and my mom calls all panicky thinking he was sick. She held out the phone and was like, "Listen! He's howling! Is he in pain? Why won't he stop?" She didn't believe me when I said he does that now, so just give him some food and he'll shut up.

awww poor Whiskey! Snowflake is SUPER loud and always does it at the wrong time. She LOVES to go nuts when we get on the phone. H was working from home the other night and was on a call. She got right up next to him and let out a series of loud cries. Someone on the call stopped and asked him if he had a cat. I was dying laughing...

[QUOTE]Star, I'm starting to feel better in some ways. Worse in some, since I'm coughing more, but that's actually a good sign! I've noticed Leo (older cat) has jealousy issues. Last night, I think part of his crying was that he thought Leia was getting attention and was out with us. In reality, she was just hiding in a different room than usual. So I think he thought I'd put him to bed and was keeping her with us. Their new thing is they think anytime I'm in the kitchen, they should get a treat. Obviously, this is not the case. I love them so much though. :)

[QUOTE]Why did this lady quit her job again? It sounds like they really need some more income. I hope she's looking for work. $100 in savings is not going to cut it. How does she expect to pay for the actual birth of her child? Even really great insurance plans rarely cover 100% of the cost. And yes, you can be a great parent and not be a millionaire. But I can imagine that money problems only escalate stress once a newborn is brought into the picture.

She quit her job because she had a knee brace and her job wouldn't work around it. So should she just have kept her job and been in "excruciating pain" so they'd have money? (Her phraseology, not mine)

ok.. seriously I personally make a habit of NEVER judging anyone's work/medical issues but seriously. I just read her blog post and basically her kneecap doesn't track properly so she is in a brace. I have that same issue. I was in a brace a couple times during my teen years. It's painful but not something you quit a job over! I am astounded.

Can a boss legally tell you to suck it up in regards to medical stuff? That seems like she should have been able to have some type of recourse.

Holy crap, I kind of wish my month board had some fun. It's snoozeville over there.

My favorite part of that thread was her asking if she was supposed to plan for car problems, losing her job and other money stresses. Uhm, yes, it's called being a responsible fucking adult.

Did anyone else see the post further down in her blog where she says that she has never seen anyone bash Jews or Muslims? Yep, there was NO backlash against Muslims after 9/11 and there is no such thing as anti-Semitism.

I'm pretty sure that post was directed to me too ;) I told her she shouldn't vote if she can't separate her religious beliefs from her vote. (in regards to gay marriage.) I very carefully explained that she can have whatever beliefs she wants, but she doesn't have the right to force those beliefs on anyone else.

Her response? By passing gay marriage, her religious rights would be trampled on. That's when I had to explain that no one was going to force her to "pick a lesbian and run down to the courthouse."

Seriously. That girl is so clueless it's maddening.

whenever someone attempts the argument that gay marriage is against my religious belief and thus should be against the law, I seriously want to explode. LOTS of things are against main stream religions! Most religions are against me living with my husband before marriage- should that be against the law? Many are against seeing tarot readers- should they be banned?

The religious argument rings SO hollow. I hate that so many people will cloak themselves in it. Just because it's against your religion doesn't mean that it being legal makes YOU a sinner you ignorant hoar.

it took me a long time to learn to ignore people. My biggest issue was always that I spoke up (except for one time at work when I was 16 when my own boss said something racist- another story for another day). The best thing to do with racists is to smile sweetly and move on. It's not worth risking my safety to argue with some of the people I've come across.

  • I want a free Lesbian...

Seriously, the most lame excuse ever. That girl makes me weep for our future. Our Governor re-called the state House back into session to try to pass the Civil Unions bill (to allow Civil Unions) and the Asshat Republican Majority Leader sent it to the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee to be heard. They struck it down along party lines. Asshat!
  • Chiming in here. I'm from Michigan, where there was an anti-bullying law being debated not too long ago. Christian groups inserted a provision protecting bullies who were acting out of a "sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction."

Seriously. Thankfully, that provision was removed, but I doubt that it's the last place we'll see something like that.

My FBIL is gay, and it makes me so sad and angry to know that because of some people who can't give Caesar what belongs to Caesar he won't be able to get married.
