FI and I were in Maui last month for 6 days with 80 of his closest co-workers. We saw at most 5% of them the entire time.   If possible, rent yourself a jeep and just drive away...it's pretty easy to get lost from the crowd in that terrain.  Hopefully you'll only see them at the airport on the way in and out.

    good luck!

  • Wow, just wow. I'd be so mad! I agree with pirate - turn your phones off and ignore them. Do NOT make any committments ahead of time to get together with them. I would also tell them nonchalantly, "just so you know, we'll be keeping our phones turned off and only using them for emergencies, since we'll be on our HM, so don't worry if you don't hear from us. Hope you have a great time, we'll see you when we get back!" And leave it at that.

If they look confused b/c you're not making plans with them, just innocently explain that you'll be on your HM so 100% of your time is dedicated to your husband - therefore, your "schedule" is already booked and you're so sorry that you can't squeeze in any more plans :)-

If worst comes to worst, I would seriously change islands and not tell them. You should NOT feel guilty for doing this!
  • Girl, forget about them.  Your honeymoon is about you and him...not the family...I totally identify because both of our families keep making jokes (primarily his), about how they seriously need a trip and that they should just go to Italy at the same time we are.  I know how much it pissed me off as a joke and can only imagine how extremely livid you must be.  This is YOUR HONEYMOON, forget them.  If they have a problem with not being able to tag along on your honeymoon, they need to remember what that word means!  Don't let them run you around like that.

    Best wishes,
    Alicia
