how close is too close

I can understand your being upset - something similar is happening to my fi and me.  (And he's upset about it.)  We got engaged in Sept. 2009 and our wedding is planned for Sept. 2011.  Good friends of his just got engaged (a week ago or so) and are now talking about getting married during the summer of 2011.  He's annoyed by it.
To me, it's not really a big deal.  We chose to have a longer engagement because of circumstances and finances.  (It seems like you also have a long engagement for your own reasons.)  Anyway, my feeling is that if they get married right before us, that's great for us.  We're still young and not many of our friends will be married before us.  I look at it as an opportunity to bond with other brides/grooms over the whole planning process - I mean how much fun would it be to go help each other pick out dresses and everything?  Additionally, if they get married first, it's an opportunity for us to learn from what we did and didn't like.
Instead of feeling like she's stealing the spotlight - look at it like you're extending the festivities for months instead of just a week or so.  You'll get to be on that wedding high for so much longer.

And to the OP:  I hope you apologized in your recent conversations with her.  If I were her, I would not speak to you without the apology.  You should feel bad that you ever said a word to her about it.

Wow, it sure is awsome how bitchy everyone is about you having a bridezilla moment, eh?  I'm glad I don't have to deal with the majority of these PP's in any sort of reality-based context!

If you asked your FI to talk to his sister, then yes you were out of line and you should apologize.  If you really just needed to vent to FI and process it, and then HE went and told his sister without your knowledge and thus made her cry, then you had a smaller bridezilla moment but you still should apologize (and smack your FI for being so rude to his sister). 

I honestly doubt anyone plans an entire wedding without at least one bitchy moment.  There's a lot of stress and expectations are ridiculously high, and I know I need to vent occasionally.  Just make sure that, in the future, you vent to appropriate people.

I can see why your upset, don't feel like a bridezilla. If she has the wedding in March, I don't think September is too close, but October is. One of the two of you will probably get screwed over a little by out of town guests not showing up since they went to the other's wedding. Oh, well. Such is life. You don't want to start both marriages on a bad note, so don't mention it anymore, but expressing your concern was fine to do.

I think it is funny when brides expect to have the months up to the wedding  devoted to them!  You get ONE day and it is over within a blink of an eye.  Who creates these monsters who think they can have all the attention from engagement up to the day of?!  Get over yourselves.  I have perused a few posts and must have read about 5 posts about how"It is MY day, blah blah blah" or "How dare someone take my day away form me by having their wedding before me?!"
