  • I like the idea of using it as an incentive plan but not as a base line cost. I think it's a great idea to encourage people to be healthy but there are way too many if's in the equation. I also think it's a cop out to say that it's a risky behavior. As many have pointed out there are a lot of risky behaviors and I feel if you penalize one then you need to just go down the list.

    I'm late to this, so someone might have said it, but I get pissed off in general about the government, insurance, whatever, limiting my right to make decisions.  I'm only jumping in because it reminded me of an argument I had the other day about wearing a seat belt while driving.  If I want to engage in risky behavior, let me.  It's my own life.  After all, I don't recall hearing any stories of a body being propelled through a window and hitting a bystander.

    ETA: I'm agreeing with Blue's sentiment about paying for your own insurance.  I get very nervous about too much government regulation of what citizens can and can't do.
