  • Is it rude to bring a book to a pedicure? I dont want to spend an hour chit chatting.
  • I'm so impressed by the meal planning prowess you ladies have. I've tried, but it's not been successful.

I don't think it's rude at all. You're paying, you may as well enjoy. Unfortunately, everytime I try to read a magazine during a pedicure, the technician fully ignores it.
  • I dont like meal planning, besides my lunches. A lot of the time I change my mind about what I want for dinner throughout the day depending on how I feel so it just doesnt work for me. Sometimes I am just tired so all I want to do is boil some eggs. If I had everything planned out too much food would go to waste I think.

This is exactly why our meal planning has been unsuccessful.
  • Good morning!

I tried the meal planning thing for most of November and December, and it was really starting to work pretty well.  Then Christmas happened, and all the interruptions and nights out--and now we've eaten out the last three nights in a row.  Whoops. H is actually off tomorrow (a rarity for a Sunday) so we're going to go grocery shopping and get back on track.

As far as today, I think my plans consist of laundry.  Whoopee!
  • Morning Ladies!

I love meal planning.  It keeps my shopping trips cheap and easy.

SodaStream:  I've been adding strong, pure juices to my bubbly water and it's delicious!  Cranberry is my favorite but orange juice makes it like an Orangina.  This week I started adding Crystal Light packets to my soda water and that's a taste treat.

I'm heading to the market after breakfast to pick up my fresh fruit/veg for the week and am starting to do smoothies like the green monster, so hopefully that'll be worth it.  My weight is stalled again so I need something to kick it up a notch.  I just wish berries were in season and not so gosh darn expensive.
  • Morning ladies! It is gorgeous outside so I plan on taking Pumpkin for a long walk to get us both some exercise. Yesterday was pretty awesome because the kids at work voted me as the "Clinician of the Month" and I somehow managed to get 6 free boxes of contact lenses from Costco for free.

My doctor just called me about the blood test results from last week. I scheduled them before I knew I was pregnant because I felt as if something were wrong with my thyroid (my sisters and mother have hypothyroidism, I have been extremely exhausted all the time, weight gain and difficulty losing it, not getting pregnant, cold all the time) and I still went just because I felt it would be better to bring the results when I go to my first appointment with the OBGYN. She told me that everything is ideal but I am very deficient in Vitamin D. I am wondering if that could have anything to do with my symptoms. I hope so, otherwise, I got nuthin.

We're really bad about eating out too. We live in a neighborhood where there are a lot of tasty, inexpensive choices. We also try not to move the car during the week because of parking issues so getting to the store can be tricky. I have been trying to be better about planning ahead and doing a big grocery trip on Sundays. All the meal planning posts on here have really helped me.

I have been thinking about getting a Sodastream for a long time. I should just do it, I can go through 6-12 cans of seltzer a day and that just isn't good for my wallet or the environment.

  • Morning ladies. I don't meal plan. I could never be that organized. I have to work tonight and I hate Sat nights. Its always packed (2 hour wait) and people are rude and grumpy.

  • Morning Ladies!

We finally got to sleep in today. Glorious! I've been so tired for weeks now.

Today I plan to clean up a bit, do laundry, and then I'm heading to the store to find some items to start our organizational projects. We really need to work on the mail system in the house, now that DH's office is finished.

I dont meal plan, per say. We have a lot of meals that are quick and easy that we eat throughout the week. And on the weekends DH will cook one big meal like chili, beef stew or cajun meatloaf that will feed us throughout the week. We've cut down our eating out quite a bit.

<div>This! Andplusalso, DH is a PITA when it comes to eating. If he is not in the mood for it, he won't eat it and it will become more of a waste. We do spend way too much on groceries though for 2 people and 2 dogs. </div>

  • Ditto to the frozen berries. We eat a lot of fresh ones too but for my smoothies I use frozen...at one of the grocery stores they have an anti-oxidant blend - cherries, blackberries, blue berries and raspberries.  Then I add in greek yogurt, half a banana, chia seeds, some greens+ and cherry juice and pomegranate juice.  So good!
  • Yeah, we kind of half-ass meal plan.  I usually plan 4 meals for 6 days, so we still have some flexibility.  We usually don't decide until the night before what we want.  Even half-assing it has saved us a ton of money... we used to eat out about 4-5 days/week.  Not good for my wallet or my health.

I'm so tired right now. I hope I get in a good power nap on the plane.  Thankfully my house is only about 20 minutes from the airport.  My family is driving back to WI tonight, and probably won't be home until 1am or so. gross.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Hola? : So do they work for seasonal allergies too?  For some reason the thought of getting shots never occurred to me, but I get really, really terrible seasonal allergies in the late summer/early fall (the weeds kill me man), where I take allergy meds 3x a day (yeah, the "24 hour" stuff) and still suffer.  And of course, triggers my asthma. Of course I haven't seen a doctor specifically for my allergies, but huh.  I'll have to ask after I get officially allergy tested.

Yes! I have seasonal allergies but am miserable throughout the year because I am allergic to dust and dustmites, which are here all year round. I just had my last allergy shot after 3 years and it drastically reduced the amount of sinus infections and the severity.

I do this.  Silk Soy milk (vanilla), frozen berries, protein powder, maybe a banana.  A few seconds in the bullet blender and I'm out the door.  Or if I don't have berries I use powdered peanut butter and a banana, with a little ice to thicken.

  • Well, I'm definitely going to ask about shots after I'm tested.  Thanks for the info!

I don't like to EAT frozen fruit, but if you're just blending it up for a smoothie, it's the way to go for sure.

  • Ok,...smoothie people, what blender do you use?  We got a stupid Hamilton Beach blender for our wedding that was supposed to an "ice crusher" and the stupid thing blows.  I'd make more smoothies if our blender blended ice.

I want a VitaMix so much but hot damn they're pricey.

<div>I desperately want a Vitamix but for now our Cusinart one works well, it's the highend one I think. Definitely not in the price range of a Vitamix though. But it blends fine, even ice although I don't use ice in my smoothies. </div>

  • I got my powdered PB on Amazon, but I think it's more expensive there than the manufacturer's website.  I haven't looked for it at WF.  I want to bake something with it - I think it would be awesome in a cookie recipe.

  • Yep - Bell Plantation has it cheaper than Amazon.  I'll order it there next time.  They have recipes on their website too.

I'm stocking up on those too especially since frozen berries = don't need to add ice.  I still need a load of fresh ones though for in my yogurt and cereal.

That sounds delicious Number!   I haven't done chia seed at all yet but I'm open to it.  Are they really that much better for you than flax seed?  I heard flax might have  properties that raise estrogen dominance and I'm not sure how I feel about that and might need to switch.
